THE TM MWS thread

It's always good to see this BB debate bubbling along... there really isn't a right or wrong answer when it comes to BB's other than DONT USE NUPROLS in a MWS!!!

Like anything with an MWS, no two will probably function the same but will do within tolerances. The science and engineering behind the MWS is such that different people will have varying results. This is so true in the case of BB's. What works well for one person may not necessarily work as good for another. I believe It's trial and error to some degree, not I deal I know but that's the platform we are working with.

Folks,

Impulse101 have had a huge restock of Marui MWS parts... So get your springs, nozzles, buffers and whatever you feel you need a duplicate of.... or triplicate of or in my case QUADRUPLICATE of (is that even a word lol)

And if you choose the airmail option it's about £9 equivalent and takes circa 2 week

Happy shopping...

I was quick and able to snag a second upper receiver before they ran out, since i'm having so much trouble taking off the Mk18 rails. Gonna keep the Mk18 upper stock for CQB and make the second upper for longer range. Already got my SixG nub and modify tan bucking ready from before I even bought my MWS last year

Hey guys,
So i finally managed to take out the castle/barrel nut off, I am at this part right now where i dunno what to do next and dont want to harm my MTR.

Should i just try to yank out the outer/innerbarrel right now (its really stiff) or should I do sth before this?

That MTR barrel looks like a giant drill bit...!! ;)

If the receiver end is the same as a regular MWS then a wee knock with a rubber mallet should do it... I'd check the manual first though just to make sure there's nothing extra in the MTR receiver/barrel assembly over a MWS just in case there's a grub screw lurking..

Well thats the problem, i dont see any screw in the diagram but cant really figure out whether outer and inner barrels are held in by that MGG6-12 or not... And how should i take it out, whether it is necessary to take it out

Talking about this part which is still left on my upper receiver

View attachment 73445

nope, this shit has to be taken out as well...

Okay it gave in after excess heat and bashing on top of it, i even managed not to damage the last nut! now goes the upgrades

EDIT: FOR ANYONE WHO HAS MTR16, the last nut should be unscrewed in the same direction as the first one!

There you go. If all else fails give it a good bash lol. Truth be told some of the MWS’s are like that too. You just got to give them a wee bash to dislodge any suction or whatever is holding the collar in place with the receiver.

Yea, another head scratcher for you guys, so i changed the inner barrel to 410mm ML crazy jet and ML decepticon 70degree 2021 bucking alongside ML omega nub

It shoots with angry gun v2 npas at 410 FPS, all seemed fine until... i found out that my bolt lock stopped functioning! it doesnt lock the bolt on empty mag anymore, why is that?
The only thing i changed from previous setup that worked just fin is the inner barrel and bucking!
Is my gun shooting on 410 fps is causing that ? Before i did this upgrade (this morning) bolt lock was still functioning!

Lowered the NPAS to minimum and the bolt lock sometimes works (on dry fire) and sometimes it doesnt, what could be the problem here?

Could this be a cause of it? That wear on the bolt?

asking about this part specifically

EDIT: I've found out that i bented one of my mag's, fixed the bent and it started bolt locking, but still bolt lock is not 100% anymore, all my other mags arent bented near the bolt lock latch on the mag, is there any fixes i can try?

So I want to use tracers for CQB. Still need good accuracy for mix of indoor and outdoor so don't wanna go below .25. Was ideally looking for .28 but anyway my questions are about the quality of tracer ammo.
I've personally had best success with Tippmann tracers. By success I mean they light up the brightest with my Lighter S. I used ASG Blaster tracers when I didn't have Tippmann BBs on hand and the difference in brightness is very noticable. I've never had a jam or bb-explosion with Tippmann bbs either!

Regarding the failing bolt lock function - i've switched my nozzle to G&P reinforced nozzle, with 170% nozzle return spring (that i used before in AG v2 NPAS nozzle set, when bolt lock was still working), all other bolt carrier springs are 150% strength, and i installed adjustable nozzle valve set from G&P (5.0).
Bolt lock is not functioning on any of my mags. Is this because the gun is shooting too hot? I will try to switch back to my previous setup tomorrow, but I've read that you guys were using 410mm crazy jets without any problems, so help?

EDIT: I've reverted the changes back - TM stock inner barrel, TM stock bucking&nub, AG V2 NPAS nozzle set with 170% return spring aaand - bolt lock is working 100% on all my mags.
Ideas?

Well, many days after starting, I've finally finished all 200 pages. Apart from figuring out that I really need to do more with my spare time, here are my main take homes from the thread:

  • The MWS in all its iterations is, as Snoop may say, the shiznit
  • The MK18 version looks ace but the design is mental
  • The third party support for the platform is huge
  • @AlphaBearhates Nuprol
  • The one constant upgrade that almost everyone agrees on as being performance enhancing and therefore an essential purchase, is the SixG brass nub
  • Whenever retailers get any MWS's or TM original parts in stock (especially mags), they disappear rapidly, so act fast
  • Angry Gun are shit, but they're not, sort of
  • HAO Industries kits are incredible looking (416 and L119A2 ?) but are jaw-droppingly expensive
  •  @AlphaBearreally hates Nuprol
  • Fire Support provide excellent service to the needy and cash-rich MWS brethren
  • Depending on barrel length, ammo weight, nub type, gas type, ambient conditions, lunar alignment and inside leg measurement, FPS ranges from 200 - 1,400 fps
  • The green gas mag mod is not necessarily necessary
  • @AlphaBearfrigging hates Nuprol
  • Become familiar with Impulse101 and other Japanese sites and order well in advance of needing spare TM parts
  • Nozzles, nozzle springs, TM hop rubbers and a decent armourer's wrench should be in everyone's tool/spares box
  • This thread is an absolute goldmine of people willing to share information, admire other people's builds and welcoming other people in joining the growing number of MWS owners
  • @AlphaBearabsolutely, positively hates Nuprol
Thanks everyone. Looking forward to receiving the stock alert email telling me it's time to sell a kidney (or kid) as my MWS journey is about to begin.

Will loosening the buffer tube help me in this situation ?
Might do, the bolt might be moving too fast for the catch to stop it, backing the buffer out 1 turn might be enough to do it.

TBH you have tried everything else!

If... you wind the tube out a couple of turns to give the bolt more time to catch you must add 10p's to the bottom of the buffer tube to pack it out or the bolt will over-travel and the screws on the top of the bolt will catch the top of your lower and destroy it making for a v costly mistake.

Alternatively, buy a guns modify or similar lightweight bolt catch as it moves up faster after first checking it can move freely as I had a build up of dry chain lube making it move sluggish - the hook part should almost rattle up when you hit the bolt release catch.

Good man @C-Diddy for reading all 200 pages. Your journey is now complete. Well almost....Now just get that damn MWS laddie and start having some fun. And for you’re preferred choice of BBs. Drum roll.... Don’t use Nuprol RZR bbs else the next 200 pages will be even more entertaining lol

On reflection maybe  I should start showing Nuprol some love? Give them a second chance? Hmmmmm? Actually sod that thought!!! ?

.

Guess which brand this rail is which Luke is referring too ????

Thank you for the words of caution, regarding the bolt catch not moving freely - it moves freely and bolt catch works just fine when i reverted everything else back.
One more question, since I am not from UK, i wonder what is 10p? Is it a 10 pence coin? :D  If it is i will find something of similar width and height (maybe my HSB will finally come?)
and i see you are talking about couple of turns, but what about 1 full turn, it shouldnt be too much, should it?

@TadsJ2 your bolt speed is too fast, so the mag empty catch cannot catch in time.

Yes the HSB will help this situation.

Yes unscrew the buffer tube 1 turn at a time and re test.

My HSB is in my country but it is stuck in  sorting centre for 5 days already... called them, they said they will look into it, so fingers crossed i will get my HSB by the end of this week.
Thanks Dave, will try to do this one turn at a time and hopefully one will be enough :) But as I understood, if I will put the HSB in I might have to unscrew buffer tube a little bit again ? :)
