THE TM MWS thread

You playing at the weekend? If so, let us know how you get on with it. My aim for tomorrow is an 80m kill.

If the weather holds out I will be playing with it Sunday. Been gagging to field it.

On green gas I've been getting 330fps with 0.2 –

Curious what numbers red gas will bring it upto (although I don't want to damage it and 330fps is fine).

Nuprol red is okay, but after using Guarder power up gas, I will stick to that for any time propane isn’t suitable. Seems to work like MAPP without the rancid smell

Put a heavier BB in and you’ll creep closer to the equivalent energy of 350 on a 0.2g.

When you thought it was Friday yesterday.. I’ve never been so disappointed ?

Hi All, I recently picked up an MWS CQBR (not even skirmished it yet). I’ve been following this thread a while.

I have a few questions around some upgrades - so far I’ve picked up a magpul CTR stock, grip and AFG, madbull mk18 rail (9 inch), gas block and a Laylax hop arm. Also have a vortex red dot and some flip up sights to complete the build, together with a Maurui silencer.

I have a few questions and would really appreciate some help if possible, new to airsoft and never built a rifle before. Although I’ve seen a lot of videos and am fairly comfortable to do it myself.

- Is the super nub really noticeably better than the Laylax hop arm? I’ll likely stick to .25 to .3’s.

- I’m looking to find a barrel nut adapter and can’t find them anywhere online. I’ve been searching for a PTS one, are there any other manufacturers that are known to work?

- Will the madbull rail need any fitment at all?

- I’m considering an inner barrel, possibly an orga Lex 05 250mm. Will this increase the FPS and be better overall when compared with the stock barrel? I want to keep it firing within site limits.

- Also, what is the stock FPS with something like ASG ultra air with moderate weather conditions?

Apologies if some one of those have been answered already in this thread.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks

Using the super nub means you get to keep your original hop arm, which means you can use other nubs if you were to try long contact patch buckings like the TNT. With the strike arm you’re stuck with that. If you’re gonna stick to -.28 and under there’s not a great deal of point in changing anything internally. The nub will offer slight improvement, but massive improvement with .32+ BB’s. If you’ve already got the arm then you may as well use it though.

PTS and Orga make one. I had to get mine from HK somewhere. Couldn’t find anything in the U.K.

i had what I think was a madbull mk18 rail on one of mine. You could get it on, but I found it rotated a bit left or right because the alignment tabs are about 3mm too wide for the receiver.

Whats your fps now? Standard barrel I believe is 6.08? So you’ll get an increase in your FPS. Personally I think if you’re staying to the same barrel length, just clean the one you have and use it. Unless you buy an EDGI or something like that, you’re probably not gonna notice a great deal of improvement. If you’re putting a longer barrel in to DMR it, a replacement makes more sense.

I wouldnt put ASG ultrair in anything I own, but my CASV on propane (standard internally minus hop mods) is about 310. It depends on if you have a version 1 or version 2 nozzle.

Thanks so much, really appreciate the help. I think I’ll try out the 250mm Orga and test to see how it is.

Interesting on the ASG Ultra Air, is there a reason for that? Is it damaging in any way?

Now im worried about the madbull rail, it’s on order and coming soon. But without the adapter I can’t fit it. Is this because of mad bull, or do you think its a specific issue to the mk18 rail?

@MikeL you do need a barrel adapter to fit an aftermarket rail. I had to order one from Asia. As 99% of stores are out of stock here in the UK. I’m now sitting on it trying to decide what rail I wanna run.

So update on my hop set up. Been running a 300mm crazy jet. Which I’m now going to polish up. TNT TR 50 degree and element H nub. These are plastic. And would work far better than the stock nub. As they are solid. And are cheaper than the brass SIGX one several here are using. Problem is the TNT is a R hop style bucking. And would benefit a larger contact nub.

I had a chopped down prommy bridge nub. Some gentle sanding with a needle file. And she fits. A little snug but still will release the tension when the hop is wound down.

The element H nubs still worked great. But now I should get full potential out of the bucking.

I did something similar, except I filed down a bit more to create a very long window, coupled it with a Maple Leaf Autobot and a Panthera VSR nub (which are stupidly long, probably about another 2mm longer than an I-Key).

I was then overhopping .48s massively, even with 'no hop applied'.

So I sanded down the arm too to take the little prongs off it and I'm now getting Guarder .3s flying in a nice straight path for a very respectable range. Not sure on max range yet as the site I played at today was urban, but I'm comfortably making 50m kills so I can at least vouch for the accuracy and consistency of the setup. When I'm next outdoor, I'll try and bag a rangefinder and stick my scope on it so I can do a proper science for those looking to experiment.

so I have my first skirmish with the mws coming this Saturday which I'm looking forward to. however I need to get some new ammo before then, normally I would just get some 0.32 geoffs super precision but I can only find 0.3 or 0.36 in the UK at the moment.

so the question is what weight of BB do you use for a 1.1J build?

cheers

Remember you’ll get joule creep with heavier BB’s. I run .36’s, but I’d start with .30’s and see how you get on and what it chrono’s at

cheers, that's very true, I probably should have mentioned that I have npas fitted along with a brass nub, and I will be adjusting against joule creep too (the site I play at only measure in joules not FPS)

Hey guys ... My last update to better upgrade to Hop up MWS...

Now installed MODIFY tan rubber with Special nub type SixGbrass . The range i think that is very good . 63-65m with 0.30 to 285-290FPS/1.14-1.15J  .

Has anyone managed to improve those results ?

PD: I can say that regarding the MAPLELEAF autobot I have something less in range but MODIFY gives better precision

I ran with some 0.32 at the weekend and they flew straight and true.

Actually sniped a bloke in a tower from about 60m to my surprise.

It was a cool and extremely windy day. The trees were raining branches down.

Fun stuff... Can't wait for some warmer windless days!

Sounds on par with my experience at the weekend :)

Same nub and bucking.

Because of how airsoft guns work, you can get more range by doing 2 things. Increase bb weight and hop accordingly (this works to a point. Too heavy and you won’t be able to impart enough energy to to BB, and heavier BB’s can increase joules) or increase the power, which is probably not possible if you’re at your FPS limit.
