I sold my Staccato on here over the weekend, I won't mention the buyer for obvious reason however today they informed me they received the pistol and the slide catch had snapped off.

I checked the pistol on the 31st (Sunday just gone) when taking photos to list it, including taking the slide off and showing a photo (below) of the slide and the pin was in one piece, no damage (The pistol has been owned by me since new and had half a mag put through it on the day it arrived - Since then it's sat in a glass display case with my other pistols)

The pistol was sent in its original box, with all of the original packaging foam to secure it:

The buyer has confirmed the box arrived undamaged so it's unlikely to be from ParcelForce booting it around, so I come to you people for suggestions on how this piece could have snapped in half? The buyer said he pulled the slide back, the slide fell off and the pin fell out. I would love to work out how to avoid this in the future if/when I sell another Hi-Capa style pistol 🤔

Sounds like a brute force & ignorance breakage.

That's exactly what I thought as well. Seems very unlikely that the slide would be forced back in the box when it was secure in the foam. Offered for him to return it and I'll refund if it was a genuine breakage but it seems very unlikely that it was a damage caused by Parcelforce - I've shipped plenty of things out (Mostly to you Gav 😂) and they've never arrived damaged, in fact this is the first time in over 70 sales roughly (Both accounts combined) where something has gotten broken.

Could be either way to be honest - who knows. If it were me, I might be tempted simply to pick up a replacement slide stop and send it to the buyer as a gesture - presume that its one of these?  https://www.18airsoft.com/products/army-armament-original-slide-stop-for-r501-r601-gbb-airsoft-army-162  £4+ postage

Yeah that's the one, I picked one up from Tiger111 though, think it totalled to £11. The chap has sent it back today so once I receive it the total will be refunded and then once I get the catch I'll replace it and it'll go back into my collection. Hopefully nothing else has got damaged along with it

When I was doing my due diligence before buying mine, it seems this was a known weak point.

The pin had a stress mark the same width as the hole in the hop unit, still thinking the slide was forced back but I replaced the pin with a new AA one and it's back to working beautifully. There's meant to be a new version of the Staccato P with steel internals etc but I haven't looked into it much, might be a good investment though as it's a nice looking thing 🤔

Good price too 😍

Yeah this happened to mine as well, on the second removal to get to the hop it just went and split in two just like that.

I have the proshop version that has some steel internals ( same as yours ) but I expect the hammer and slide catch to break at some point but will replace with nova/guarder etc steel part.

I have the upgrade version of the C2 with the steel bits. Is nice.
