So the battery I bought doesn't fit, I believe it should!

Okay, so I bought a new (well used) gun and it arrived last Friday. The battery it came with was a small type 1600Ma battery, and I knew that this wouldn't last a full day's skirmish. So on Monday I ordered a new battery from Component Shop. It was a 3300Ma large type battery but I had it rewired to be a small connector. PLEASE READ

Obviously I know what you're thinking - 'you bought a large battery when it is clearly meant for a small'. Well that's the thing - the previous owner rewired the gun (a Tokyo Marui M14) to take a small-Tamiya connector. This obviously implies that large type batteries WERE used before in this gun. He did say that 'small batteries fit easier' but this is obvious. I thought that it would still be possible to fit a large battery even if it were a bit more fiddly.

But an M14 should be able to fit a large battery surely?! What are my options? The factor which seems to be limiting the battery fitting in properly is a large plastic tube around one of the wires coming from the gun's connector. What is this? Can it be removed?

Believe me I've tried! Even attempted to reroute it by taking the whole buttplate off of the gun, but to no avail unfortunately. Have you got any more advice? Thanks.

Ok How about Shaving some of the Plastic off on the Inside? may work or get a Stock Mag Pouch and Put it in the pouch on the Outside?

I think you can Get Different Fuse Box's at Maplin's specificly the MINI Blade type Commonly found in Car's failing that I call Shotgun on the front Passenger seat on a trip to a Halford's or Maybe B&Q

Ok well i think this may work

you see the Four Tab's in the Middle Slide the battery into the middle of them while pulling the wire's over or underneath the Battery and have as much of the Excess next to the Door

Otherwise Lipo the F out of it or get another Mini or Two Z1 do them for 15 quid each and their good One's

unfortunately the battery is too big for that - the battery fits perfectly into the compartment but it can't go more than an inch in due to not being able to get around the fuse!

So the wires aren't long enough for you to pull the fuse clear of the space and then reinsert it after placing the battery?

What about pushing the fuse as far down the space as you can and then putting the battery in behind it?

I'm not sure how the TM comes apart but with my G&G M14, the space in the stock continues right the way through the gun, out of the stock through the grip and right up to around the trigger region where the wires meet the motor.

If it's the same on the TM then you could try taking it apart and seeing if the fuse won't sit any further back. You might be able to squidge it into the grip section of the stock.

I've had similar issues with other guns where the fuse has taken up too much battery space and I was told that you can remove the fuse and redo the wiring without including it, if you think about it, it's just another piece of wire. I've never had a fuse blow on me before so I can't see it causing problems. Though I'd personally try and keep it just on the off chance that it busts after you take it out, 'cos that's what sods law dictates will happen.

Alternately, if all else fails, see if you can return the battery. If you can't, then sell it on here for as much as possible and just buy a couple of lipos. Patrol Base sell some 1600mah ones for about £12 or there abouts and I can make one last a full day in my L85, so if you get two you really can't go wrong.

They're 7.4v so your gun won't need modifying to take them and they also come with a small tamiya connector, so you'll not have to rewire anything either.

Only thing you'll need to do is buy a lipo charger.

OR, you could just buy another small battery.

Yes, the wire isn't long enough so that I can completely full the fuse out of the stock. I've also tried pushing it down loads but the nature of the wires means they don't bend very easily so it is impossible.

Why do you think the connector has been changed?My m14 had a small Tamiya std,the obvious thing would've been to buy another 1600 and change at dinner time..

Did you not check the size differences on the website before you bought?The 1600 is quite a snug fit iirc.

You're better off with 2 batteries anyway in case 1 fails at any time..imo.

For future reference to anyone having this problem, I managed to get the 3300Mah battery fitted in there by taking off the fuse casing and simply putting some heatshrink around it, then electrical taping over the heatshrink. Went to a full day's skirmish yesterday with it and it performed fine, the battery is very difficult to get out as it's wedged in but that's alright seeing as the 3300 lasted the whole day anyway.
