Shots veer right after c. 30m

Hi so I got myself a DMR setup recently (EC204) and I noticed the shots will start flying off to the right after about 30m of flight.

I use 0.32s and I get about 1.8j from the RIF. I assumed it was something to do with the hop up, but when I took the barrel out the bucking was coming down perfectly central.

Any ideas as to what might be causing it before I go buying replacement parts?

Could be a badly finished barrel or if it's skimming a flash hider or suppressor on the way out if you are using one.

I wouldn't completely discount the bucking, it may look 100% sat right when using your eye to look at it, but once you're shooting so far out any minor issue will start to show as the BB veering off.

With DMR's and snipers getting as close to perfection as possible with hop is essentials so that you have consistency and trust where your shot it going each time. What took me to the next level was an appropriate r-hop patch from Snipetor (Google him) and a Modify flat bucking. If you're using a typical "nub" also be wary of it being ever so slightly off centre, which is why I use a Maxx Model M4A-PRO and its solid concave nub so that this acts as a TDC.

(Of course I've spent lots of money on this, but it doesn't guarantee that I'm any less crap at playing  )

both of the above are good suggestions, although i'd add that typically suppressor strikes are much more apparent than a mild curve and have an immediate component, which would have me thinking it's the hop as lopsided spin tends to manifest at distance as a gentle curve.

one sneaky issue is that the deformation can change depending on the hop setting, so it might look perfect when you're looking at it on the bench with a little hop applied, but a little more/less hop applied when in the gun and the lop-sidedness manifests (very common in pistol hops when the tensioning arm bends), so be sure to check through the full range of hop travel.

it's worth trying a little twiddling, even if it ends up looking off by eye if the end result is the shot going straight then that's ok.

Remove as much hop as possible and try again, adjust the hop bit by bit and see if it does affect the trajectory.

Make sure the barrel is properly clean, I've had some subtle curving deviation caused by blobs of crap stick in the barrel near the breech

I've been amazed at the amount of crud that new barrels contain.  Getting one truly clean requires a fair bit of force and a very tight patch sometimes.

Some good solutions.  Generally 1st thing you need to do is remove it from the AEG and give it a thorough clean.  Some barrels have tiny burrs left inside that are impossible to see without a decent borescope.  I've seen tiny machining marks left over in the last 30mm that give the BB a tiny spin.  If you're near me in Kent (River) leave it with me and I'll run my borescope down it for you.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. You're right to call out the cleanliness of the barrel, it was absolutely filthy when I first got it, but I had given it a proper clean since.

I have noticed that at a certain level of hop, BBs would suddenly over hop like crazy, but a slight bit less and it would behave normally (with the right curve).

I will take the RIF apart again once I get home later, and have a good look at the whole motion of the hop, and update you guys.
