PTS Masada paint removal

So I recently acquired this pts masada akm and am looking to probably use it but first I'd like to remove this god awful kryptek style paint job it has.

From the look of it the gun was tan originally, would I beable to get it back to that or am I hoping too much?

Any advice on products to use, techniques etc is very much appreciated

Give it a wipe with a cloth covered in petrol, it’ll remove it in seconds without damage.

you can use acetone or nail polish remover to, but it’ll take longerer ?

Acetone is likely to damage/melt the plastic. It'll definitely remove paint, but quite possibly more too.

Use Biostrip, its literally a fit for purpose product, that doesn't damage any plastics or original coatings that are on it- petrol will damage the shitty anodising that PTS used to do.

I don’t think it will

The only thing I found that will remove anodising is drain cleaner, it needs a soak in that and a good brillo

Ano goes into the aluminiums pores, you really need something VERY aggressive to remove that (and whatever you use will also want to remove your skin!)

I stripped shitty not quite anodising that PTS uses with nail polish remover, which is only 30% acetone, off a Magpul PTS Masada, that was less than a year old, given these haven't even been made in near 10 years, and you don't know the state of it under the paint, the risk is too high.

Hard anodising goes into the pores, normal does not. Hard Anodising is expensive, PTS cut corners and cheaped out, as you could lift it with light scuffing.

Rattle can it, sounds like cleaning the paint off isn't worth the risk of damage to the rif or you.

So I decided to go with biostrip and I'm pleased with the Initial results.

Tested on a small area to begin with and it loosened the paint within 10minutes.

Coated the handguard today and left it for half an hour, cleaned most the paint off except for a few areas that seemed thicker. Coated it again and it's mostly come off. 

There are a few darker areas after cleaning off but I can live with it. May have another go but the initial results are good

So the biostrip works fine on the plastic parts but the metal upper has started to lose it's original coating as well as the paint. someone pass me a rattle can.............

So stripped off the paint (and some original paint)

Came out better than I thought, gives the kinda dirty used look as the paint has stained the plastic in places. 

Sorted out the non existent safe setting,  currently shooting at 310fps on a .25. Many thanks to @Colin Allenfor the mags and for the tips on painting from everyone
