Asking for a friend who has just purchased a HPA version, new. The first part of the flash hider comes off ok but it leaves a hideous adapter which he is having trouble removing, it has a grub screw so it would appear to be removable. Someone "advised" him yesterday that it was one piece with the barrel. I scoured YT etc to no avail. Any help appreciated.

I had the same thing on a dboys aks74u, took the grub screw out. heated it a bit then used a stilson wrench to turn it while a friend held the gun. took some force but it worked

Gentle application of Heat Gun/blow torch to release the glue/loctite thats binding it.

Then use a wrench/pair of pliers to undo it.
