Painting an outer barrel (GBB)

I'm wanting to give my G17 the SAI look.. on a budget with the weight of a TM outer barrel..

Any tips on how I should paint it? I'm thinking metallic gold/gold spray paint + a few loads of clear coat? Would it chip a lot? 

How would you do it?
