Hi guys, had a quick mooch on previous topics about impulse101, just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with ordering Rifs through them? Any issues with import fees or taxes? Cheers in advance.

Dan

Import taxes and fees have nothing to do with the retailer. You are legally obligated to pay them if the the item you are importing is over a certain value. Some retailers under value the item and some time you get away with out charges and some times you don't and if who ever does the inspection could hold it up for weeks/months or have it destroyed. If you import something just budget for import fees and don't even attempt to import if you don't have a live UKARA no number.

Yeah I get the import fees being my responsibility and all that, my ukara is all in check also. Just want to know other previous experiences as I've always bought my rifs from within the UK and it's the idea that it may get seized or destroyed that puts me off. Import and duty fees aren't a issue at all, it's more down to impulse having products that aren't as easy to get hold of from the uk.

No, but I bought my mp5 from wgcshop and basically ended up paying uk retailer prices after VAT and fees.

You're not gonna be better off unless you stay under 135 pounds. What gun you fancy?

Ahh okay that's sorta the answer I expected, I'm really interested in adding a TM G36k Recoil to my existing recoil collection or a replacement MP7GBB as the price is attractive but as I expected fees and Vat will make it pointless ordering from abroad

Marui MP7's pop up every few days pretty much either here or on other websites. People flipping them like crazy. ?

That recoil G36 is a really old design. G36+ would be better value simply because it has better internals. No recoil though.

I was interested in getting a hi-capa + mags so I had a look on Impulse. Before tax+duty (but including shipping) it's £144 for the gun + 2 mags. Assuming a 25% additional cost for customs and tax, it works out at £180. I can get the same stuff on Fire-Support for only a tenner more.

There's only a few times where importing stuff make sense in my experience. MP7 gas magazines were a no brainer to import.

Yeah the G36+ just doesn't appeal as much, I think if I was gonna avoid the recoil I'd maybe look at the WE GBB g36

Hi Dan, Yeah I looked at this too, but I am not so sure if the risk of being slapped with more taxes (And I get the impression that very shortly we may all be hit with higher taxes in one way or another on top) is worth it, but he who dares (maybe wins) Rodney! I'm holding fire (no pun intended) until black Friday and seeing if there are any deals here.

Cheers

Unless it has changed lately this is not the case.  It will be faster with a UKARA Registration on the package but otherwise they will write to you for your defence.  I have imported maybe half a dozen guns this way, not for maybe 5 years though.

Having said that if buying a gun the saving needs to be considerable or its not available in UK.  Otherwise buy in the UK then it will be to UK legal spec and you will have a guarantee.  Things like accessories and particularly gas mags however can be well worth importing.

So I recently bought a AKX and 5 extra mags from impulse 101

Shipping  from impulse to the UK took about 4 days

Borderforce took 3 months to do there part of it which involved sending me a letter asking for my defence (ukara) which was all over the shipping documents in the first place and a breakdown in fees I had to pay.

In the end the total amount inc all the charges was £850 which was ever so slightly cheaper than buying in the UK.

Main driving point for me was the fact was not many UK stores had any stock , probably wouldn’t import a RIF again but would easily use them for magazines as they work out much cheaper.
