Newbie in Leicestershire

Hey guys,

Thanks for having me! I’ve been interested in Airsoft for a while but always held off getting involved because it seems so damn complicated owning an airsoft weapon, I’m coming from the air pistol world where it’s shoot and go, not strip down take apart and rebuild better.

For now I’m looking at adding to my collection and maybe just maybe some indoor games.

Can I ask for some insight into the world of GBB, I need that recoil so am avoiding AEG currently, am I making a mistake here? My current 2 rifles of interest are the Noveske N4 and Ghetto blaster. Mainly as my budget is around £400 for a gun itself. Again please if you have any suggestions I’m very open to learning.

Pistols I’m more in the know with as have collected so many of these, this will be a choice based on my likes and wants (something full auto and something good looking). However if you have any pointers I’m all ears.

Another question, where would you recommend for a beginner to get a few indoor games where I’m not going to get slaughter like it’s my first day on COD.

I will have a defense so won’t need to worry about 2 tone etc. I’m based in Leicestershire/Warwickshire. Ask me any questions you need to know to aid in my new obsession.

No, just know your entry point will cost more than an aeg initially and you'll have limited ammo compared to most aeg users with 120+ rounds per mag.

For the gun itself, that's not bad. As above though, entry point cost goes up when you start factoring in magazines being £40 - £60 UK side each, the need for heavier and better quality BB's, maintenance stuff etc

Most indoors games will typically be the same really - Unless you can find somewhere local that does beginner only days?

If you live close to an airsoft brick & mortar store then go have a wander & fondle as many rif's as they allow, there are multitudes of AEG's & GBBR's to chose from so find what you like AK, AR, Long rifle, Bullpup, CQB, PDW, LMG, Battle rifle... yada, yada, yada.
Basically buy what you like the look of, some brands have better reputations than others & a good way of checking is to read through the Gas threads in this forum & before you buy anything do a video search on Youtube, there are plenty of reviews for many GBBR's.

I thought my last obsession was costly but man I was wrong. There’s so much choice in this world.

My plan is to visit extreme Airsoft as it’s most local to me over this weekend and touch up as many as possible.

Thanks. I learnt that entry cost and then massive extras when I got into air rifles and pcp, damn that was an expensive venture.

Thanks for clearing up re magazines as I did think airsoft offered massive magazines (as in number of BBs) and was wondering why those I kept looking at only held so few to what I expected. But makes sense room for the gas.

I think I’ll need to go GBB though as I dropped pcps pretty fast as they lacked some recoil. My least used air guns are the ones with no blowback. I think I’ve found one AEG that have a form of blowback but dang that bitch is pricey

Not to disuade you but Extreme Airsoft is the only store that did the dirty from me by selling an obviously returned L85A3 to me as a new rif. I've bought from them since without any issues & have even benefitted from another mistake they made. There is another thread in the forum about recommended shops/online sites that's worth reading too.

Thanks, this is why I’m here to know where’s decent. Local to me is very limited, Leicestershire Airsoft is close but seem to have masses of AEG but limited GBB models.

Welcome, as has been said, not everything will need "upgrading", plenty of stuff is good straight out of the box, always best to just get out & try it.
Regards gbbrs etc, im sure most are great, although some can be a bit finicky, if your going to get in to seriously playing, get yourself an aeg, even if its only as a back up, there's nothing worse than travelling to a site, sometimes quite a distance away, paying green fees, fuel etc, only to be left with a primary gun that won't function, or decides to run excessively hot due to the ambient temperature.
That's when you want your no nonsense bog standard aeg to get you out of the

Literally happened to me yesterday. My GBB MP7 chrono'd too high in the afternoon, so I couldn't use it. Super glad I took my AEG DMR

There are AEGs other than the TM NGRS or EVOLT Recoil lines, assuming that's what you meant. JG made an AK AEG with electric blowback. Specna Arms also does a version of the G36C with electric blowback. I had one myself. There are a few others out there.



The Noveskes N4 and Ghetto Blaster are great entry points though I have to ask how flexible your budget is. Both guns are great for the money though you should bear in mind, especially at this time of year, you'll be at the mercy of the weather. My N4 was hot out of the box in Spring so I had to fit an NPAS to dial it down to being site-legal and this is common with Double Eagle's GBBRs. With the latter, it's fine for CQB though for heavier BBs and running it outdoors, you should consider a hop bucking upgrade to lift those heavier BBs to a greater distance. The Ghetto Blaster has no irons so you will need to take that into account whether you get irons or a dot sight. One known issue with the Ghetto Blaster is its left side bolt release as the spring behind it loses tension over time so the bolt can lock open prematurely.

You will have to strip down GBBRs to an extent to clean them though maintenance is easy. Clean the inner barrel every game or two. You shouldn't slather the inside of the receiver or the bolt with oil or grease. You really should just lubricate the points of contact on the bolt carrier, the inside of the upper receiver, the inside of the charging handle and the trigger with only a little bit of the appropriate lubricant. Unless something catastrophic has gone wrong, you probably won't have to disassemble the trigger group.

GBBR is simple, buy a Tokyo Marui in whatever shape you desire - MWS by the sounds of it. Leave it alone. Profit. Fire Support are in Peterborough if you want to drive across but beware opening times. They are an excellent bunch
