I dont know an awful lot about it but last time I went to a match a guy I teamed up with was using it. The accuracy was mental, he finished with 30-35 kills.

Since you're a new player I wouldn't recommend a gas gun, they need a high level of maintenance, a fair bit of knowhow and are very expensive to run, magazines are very expensive and often hard to get hold of, you have to think about gas as well as ammunition and they don't work well in cold weather.

Not to mention the mags more often than not hold less than 40 shots.

On the topic of getting magazines for it, I don't think I've ever seen any mags anywhere that would work in that, I've never even seen one of those gas MP5Ks at all, to be honest.

Which means all the parts you need for it will be rare as all hell.

If you want an MP5K you'd be better off getting an electric one. You'd be better off getting an electric version of anything actually.

The first gun I ever bought was a gas M16 and it was the worst gun I've ever had, I sank about a grand into it before I gave up and sold it on. They're just not worth having really.

i might be new to airsoft but i have a lot of experience with firearms. i use shotguns and rifles on a daily basis with work as a gamekeeper. what would you recommend as a starter gun then? i want something quite short as i want my gear to be fast and light.

I think you'll find that mechanically an airsoft gun is a completely different kettle of fish to a real firearm! Gas blow backs tend to need a lot of looking after, but if you're mechanically minded then it's probably something you can pick up.

I'm with Airsoft-Ed and would recommend an electric gun as a starter. They have more in common with radio controlled cars than real firearms - all gears and motors Plenty of MP5s on the market. I prefer ICS branded guns. If you go for an ICS MX5 Pro you get a split gearbox design that is reliable, fairly easy to work on and includes 3 round burst mode - something most AEG's can't do. They don't make a K version (I don't think!) but there are plenty of MP5k models around to check out.

Your best bet would be to get along to a game and see what everyone else is carrying. You might see something you fancy. There are a lot of Stubby Killer M4 variants that are short, lightweight and easily upgradable/modifiable.

Would highly recommend the Classic Army B&T MP5's which aren't the K model but very trustworthy and reliable.
