So . The snipers choice of sidearm the mk23 pistol?? Few upgrades and they have great gas efficiency and range specially on heavy bbs for little money !!
So the big question is why has no company put that shooting system inside a rifle or carbine ? Surely it would work somehow . Even bigger mags for bigger gas storage etc
And I don't mean the mk23 carbines either . I mean say a SKS, M14 style rifle or proper carbine etc ????

Think the closest is the g&g lever system but why no one done the mk23 inners in a rifle ??

Imagine the quietness of that system in say a vss vintorez or Val .
 
What's the need? You already get gas rifles and bolt actions that have more range and accuracy without the crap trigger, and quiet semi-only AEGs for DMR/sniper roles.

Personally, i put MK23s in the same category as ghillie suits; for boring people who want to pick a bush to sit in all day.
 
And I get Ur point. But why has no company done it . Surly it would be a seller . It's a cheap inner system for the bang to the buck way for distance and quietness . I don't really like the MK23 as a pistil and don't own one but the gas efficiency and shooting capabilities is amazing for how much U pay ?

EBB is nowhere near as fun as a GBBR though, plus there's already 4 AEG VSS models on the market!

I'm sure if it was likely to be a sales success someone would've done it. Besides, considering the MK23 system as a whole (being a pistol system, magazine fed.) you can't really integrate it into anything other than the MK23 carbine chassis. If you look at any GBB rifle the whole layout is different despite operating on the same principle.

Oh i agree but for low noise GBB will still be a challenge. That said, i think my MP5K is quieter than some of my pistols.
 
I thought Nov made a carbine MK23? Ssx303? Or is that something different?

"Surely it would be a seller" implies there's a certainty. There really isn't one, even if you have a survey of a large sample of airsoft players to back up your claim. Not wanting to teach you to suck eggs but it's not a surprise that manufacturing businesses are often risk-averse.

While the system has already been designed for a pistol, it would still take costs for R&D and tooling just to make a prototype, let alone put it into mass production. Do you not think that adapting a pistol-based gas system into a non-pistol system may present some challenges that can affect noise and gas efficiency?
 
Surely in these days of so many peeps owning 3d printers, making better looking rifle/carbine kits to drop a mk23 in to would be an easier option ?
Add a longer inner barrel & maybe tap from the original mag so a secondary larger gas mag, maybe a shotgun gas mag, for increased gas capacity ?
If anything goes wrong itll be much easier to swap out another pistol, cheap asg for example, than parts from what would probably be a proprietary system from a sole manufacturer who knows they've got you by the short & curlies.

Main issue is the trigger weighs a tonne and silent guns IMO are rarely super useful. Yes there's the fantasy of picking people off one at a time as they're unable to work out where you are, but also there's the reality of them hearing a BB bounce off their belt pouch and assuming it was a twig.

As an owner of a very quiet sniper rifle, unless you do follow up shots a lot you'd be surprised how often people just assume it wasn't a hit.

Worse than that, when they call the hit you know you have as long as it takes them to walk to respawn to come back and hunt you down.

Even then their buddies will be on alert the moment one of them goes, and can probably hazard a reasonable guess where the shots came from even if theres no sneaky cutting out of the middle man involved
 
Exactly yeah.

Often the whole ghillie thing relies on being out of bounds or otherwise so far from the objective that you can sit there tugging one out in the bushes all game day and never have a player come closer than 50m.

Truly there's no better sign that your team is fucked than seeing half of them are ghillied up.
