Medical advice/help.

I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to this one just like acupuncture was recommended to me numerous times over the years but I never have attempted it

Would be curious to hear from anybody that has used either option and their following results after trying ?
Accupuncture has been used medically for 3000 years & canabis for 5000... you could always chew on a cocoa bean if you want... I prefer mine in Nestle packaging tho.

Sorry to hear that mate, sounds really rough. I've got a knee problem myself (nowhere near as bad as yours) so I know how gutting it is when it keeps you off the field.

I've seen players manage fine with knee braces so don't lose hope - hopefully someone with first hand experience can point you in the right direction. Wishing you all the best with the op and good on you for already planning your comeback! 👍

I was bought a months dose of CBD liquid. It tasted rank and made my breath foul. Did nowt.

Decent spliff however...

Never tried acupuncture despite recommendations.

Since natural cannabis will make you fail a breath test whilst driving, I avoid it. You need a script to remain legal.

Written whilst Pulsio massage gun does the work. It's a serious help!

I would 100% recommend acupuncture
I was a non believer of it until around ten yrs ago, I slipped getting out of the shower and “cricked” my back.
I didn’t think anything of it, but before I knew it I couldn’t bend and it got worse, unable to sit, then unable to stand upright!
I had trapped my sciatic nerve somehow!
I spent two weeks in bed in agonising pain, with spasms in my leg making it come (involuntarily) up to my chest and in screaming pain.
My GP prescribed morphine, which did take the edge off of it, and they suggested acupuncture.
I was willing to try anything at that point.
The specialist came round, and took ten minutes to move me from lying on my back - to lying on my front.
She then put in around 10 - 12 needles in my back, wiggled them for a moment, then went for a cuppa and a chat in the other room with my wife.
She returned to wiggle and turn the needles again and left me for ten minutes.
She took them out, and got me comfortable, and said to my wife, “he’s ok , he’ll sleep for a while”

I blacked out and slept for 18hrs solid
I was back on my feet in 48 hrs, and back to work ten days later.

I 100% endorse acupuncture after that experience

I’d probably check online for a specialist in your locality
Most will have a decent amount of reviews
It cost me around £250 ten years or so ago, but absolutely worth every penny

Played yesterday, had a great day .Bought an MTW unleashed, changed my mined and bought a 10" MTW. Dosed up with painkillers all week and the new knee supports helped. Modified my play ,a mince rather than a run. Pain was manageable and even at home it wasn't bad. Nice h0t bath. T0day I didn't like the stairs checking on my new project 3D printer. But all in all it's manageable, again thanks for all the advice.

I trained for two hours today on a hard surface. I needed paracetamol, gabapentin, and Tramadol, znd NHS supplied insoles to do so. When I got home I ate and then I poured myself a decent drink (isotonic sport scotch) and went to work with my heated massage chair(E bay UK £80) and Pulsio massage gun (£40 on sale). Sitting here now feeling rather fine with some decent music on (Øresund Space Collective - Chatoyant Breath).

Bear in mind I trained proper old school kung fu with body conditioning and 80% strikes to the ribs, arms and legs; all over last weeks bruises. I started with Chinese breath exercises as always, they supposedly help bring energy to the body. Personally, I think it's mind over matter rituals, but they seem to work. I've not braved the stairs yet, but I don't fear them.

I'll do an hours wrestling and an hours Muay Thai tomorrow after work on a soft surface with no pain killers. Lower body pain is heavily influenced by the type of floor/footwear I've experienced the last 12 years. What do you do with footwear to protect your knees? Fitted insoles? Extra soft soles? The jolt of badly fitting or supporting boots can have a massive effect on knee health.

Me personally I got nhs fitted insoles as my arches were collapsing I’d consider some footwear that helps keep your ankles aligned and the insoles being molded to your soles with arches height as required rather than off the shelf insoles

Initially felt like walking with bricks in your shoes and was quite painful but eventually faded and helped massively

With all that training you’ve listed sounds like your smashing it pal

My training these days involves stairs and daring to pick something up I’ve dropped on the floor 😂

Read something somewhere the other day that said you know your old when if you’ve dropped something you look at it and consider if you need it anymore lol 😂

Bloody hell! That is a band that doesn't get mentioned very often. Having spent 25+ years in the space music scene, including managing Hawkwind for a while, I used to know Scott Heller. He is a lovely chap.
Love space rock. Started the evening with Rikki Ililonga's raw Zamrock classics, a bit of Soweto rock (Makgona Tsohle Band), and I'm ending it with Ufomammut.

Took Mrs TPH to Hawkwind last summer. I've seen them dozens of times. We're watching Ghuraba on Friday before driving to Eversley for Namsoft. If you like space music you may well like these fellows:

I will give them a good listen.

I wouldn't piss on Ufomammut if they were on fire unless I could piss petrol. Litmus, which was the band I worked with from 2001 until 2025, supported them in London in 2006. The arseholes stole some of our kit.

Nicking each others kit was almost compulsory for punk.

Back to topic... I had the first pain free exercise session on a hard floor for nearly 14 years tonight. Forgot to take my pain killers and actually had less pain than I usually do with them. Funnily enough I wrestled for a couple of hours first, and the teacher laughed that my son's double armlock whilst he held me face down with his weight, looked like advanced chiropractor technique.
