Bit of a random post but I'm hoping someone will know the struggle.

So basically I sacked off Virgin few months back for being robbing...clowns. Then I got a refurbished youview box no contract to satisfy the wifey to record the usual brain melting soaps and so on. Now the youview is dying probably from the love island cancer it's had to face.

So just looking for a nice freeview box that records (if it's compatible with a external hdd even better but I don't think they exist). I refuse to pay the outrageous prices some boxes ask for.

If anyone has recommendations that'd be swell.

Don't be so tight?

Slightly less unhelpful suggestion: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tvs-entertainment/1405950/best-freeview-box

Humax are widely accepted as the best (although pricey) but there's plenty of cheap ones on Amazon (some under £30) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_st_review-rank?keywords=freeview+pvr&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Afreeview+pvr&qid=1534948062&sort=review-rank

Humax are not accepted as the best. The BT Youview plus box is a Humax DTR-T2100 in disguise. The more you know eh?

Thanks anyway for your amazon search results.

I wish I could put it down to being tight but between two fire sticks both with loaded with kodi, Netflix on the TV and x1x, dead virgin media boxes and now a dead youview I'm well past spending money on shoddy gear. Alls I wants is a nice box that records more than one thing.

Cheers anyway bud.

Have you checked if your TV supports recording?  If so, then you just need an external USB drive.

Cheers

It does and I do with a 1 terabyte wd elements. But decent boxes have duel tuners or more meaning you can record more than one thing at a time. Most tvs I've seen just record one at a time.
