High all can anyone advise me about what I need to do to convert my m4 over to lipo battery's and do I need to get something to regulate them as I don't want to hurt my baby m4.

Would probably help if your were a tad more specific about which M4 you have.

As per what mike636 said, what m4 have you got?

If its one of the good makes they will usually take a 7.4v lipo out of the box, how ever for added pice of mind you could fit a MOSFET and do a wiring upgrade etc

Sorry I got a g&g hop and metel gear gearbox with shims I think my m4 is cyber gun it's compleatly metel it's the motor getting hot that I'm worried about is it wise to use a MOSFET and a set of deans connectors. Thank you for taking the time to help me I only been Airsofting about 5 months but I skirmish every two weeks and I don't really like messing with what I don't understand so thank you

The motor will get hot through use and is quite normal. It's if the battery gets very hot that you have problems, usually a short circuit or jammed gearbox.

Most guns should be able to take a 7.4 Lipo without any changes, as it's not really much different than fitting a 9.6V NihM, just smaller. If you do go for a Lipo, then either fit a Mosfet with Lipo cutout, so that you can't over discharge the Lipo (that will kill it quickly) or get a Lipo Alarm to fit in the charging plug, which will beep at you if the cell voltage drops near 3V per cell.
