Is black really that bad?

If you got it from donning ton the only regiment it was from was the raf regt.
Honiton and yes, I meant RAF Regiment. Perhaps I ought not to have assumed that, since I said RAF Honiton, that it would be obvious that Regiment shortly thereafter referred to the RAF Regiment. I suppose I could have been trying to sound cool by referring to the SAS that way, but I would have been making a dick of myself twice over, since we've all seen SAS in BLACK.

I wonder what their rational is? Intimidation? Hiding in shadows? Various black items they may be carrying blending in to an all black figure making threat assessment more difficult?

wouldnt they choose their camo/colours beforehand depending on the situation. As far as I know the only time they use black is in counter terrorism operations. And that would usually be CQB stuff? So having stupic camo patterns indoors wouldnt really change much would it? Black looks badass, helps with shadows and with the gas mask is scary as ****! Wouldnt want to come face to face with that in a dark coridoor.

If you look at some images some wear a dark blue too. It More to do with friendly fire when they go in. Some from top some from bottom and meet in the middle. Sort of help if they're not in cam and a big black blob. Also the the nomex is made in those colours (they could get other colours but why). And they're in and out in a few mins so they could go in in bright yellow it wouldn't make much of a difference.

And the raf regt they can't even get into the army but they think they're sf when all they do is patrol an airport.

But if you want to wear black then go for it. Its not just the kit you wear.

that's funny seeing as the RAF Reg have a Harder Physical and Harder Written test...

OT but the RAF Regiment do have a reputation for being dopey and I have to say that I've met an airman(?) who was quite honestly scarily intellectually challenged, when you consider that his job entailed carrying an L85 with live ammo! Seriously, I don't think I've met anyone dopier who wasn't considered disabled...

I think you should have more respect for them.

Yaaaay, another inter-service slagging match, because those never usually crop up...

I could post up about a whole range of army guys and girls in the navy I've met and paint them in highly negative lights, but this is an airsoft forum, can we stick to airsoft?

Let's get back on topic folks, if this carries on I'm going to mop the thread up a bit. As CK said, this is an airsoft forum, stick to airsoft. Slinging insults at each other isn't what we're here for and it's all just been stereotypical BS anyway. Give it a rest.

Mind the language as well, yer bunch o' beepin' beepers.

Bite my Beep you Bepping Sheep Beeper

to far? you left yourself wide open though...

Black is Meh if you like it use it just don't expect my condolence's when you step out of a Dark area or get a Light shined on you.

The SAS actually wear a very dark blue, not a full black.. But that will because they would be indoors at night so colour doesn't really do much and I imagine the fact its quite imposing will come into it as well.

The reason people say stay away from black is unless you're at night indoors with no lights you stand out like a sore thumb even.. at the outpost (urban/cqb/indoor site) if you wear black indoors, where there are no lights, you'll stand out really easily. The simple fact is nothing in nature is black (as in black black)

Indeed you are correct sir. Camo is there to add the illusion of depth, and black is not great at doing that because nothing in nature is solid black. Our eyes pick up on this as unnatural. I do like black for looks though. The only pure black kit I have is my MP5 (obviously) and my UBACS. The plate carrier is Tan, my balaclava is dark navy blue and the trousers are... Well they're cheap but I dont know the camo. They're not black! I think black goes well in moderation. But everybody is entitled to their own opinion. This is a hobby sport after all so people can wear what they like.

There are plenty of things in nature which appear as black as black clothes seen in the same light. Think about it; if you saw me in full black BDU next to a puma, in bright sunshine, there would be light grey highlights and hundreds of charcoal shades in various shadowed/different facing bits of my clothing and similarly there would be a variety of faint colours, probably shades of brown, revealed in the puma's fur, but in deep shadow we would both be as indistinguishable from shadow behind as each other.

Ian, stop being so pedantic lol.

The phrase means things like foliage and things you'd try and blend in with. So basically anything, apart from buildings, other man made stuff, animals, and other people.

You're not going to try and blend in with a Puma...
