Actually they dont/ wont by the end of 2012 as its all being replaced with MTP as thats why their was a big thing about it in the news

edit the only ones using DPM now are those doing training and selection courses

or go to your local hiking shop, get a pair of mountian/hiking trousers that are nice and durable, get a pair of comfie boots. buy a chest rig and boom, Instant Militia man look. orrrrr get a tuban then chest rig and a dress (lose fittign not tight) and BAM your now a taliban, get an ak47 to make the look, and grow a beard.

Yeh, I will probably go with the Militia look, not the Taliban look although it did make me laugh, and just typing this I released that Taliban is a recognised word on the iPad?

EDIT: I know it sounds silly that I am a big fan of Milsim and everything, kinda the reason why I started doing Airsoft but I just feel that I don't deserve to wear it playing silly soldiers when people die in those clothes protecting our country, that sounds kinds Mr Motivator but still!

I'm sure they'll still be using DPM for TA/reserves/cadets for a while and in the UK, I think (for a while anyway) only the regulars will be given MTP. Also I think they're still using DPM for training and jungle as MTP wouldn't work in the jungle or dense forest

That's the point of MTP though, its good everywhere but not specialised

@craig, I realise, but they still use it on camp atm, when I was moving house from colchester I was on the camp there for a bit, didn't see much MTP

Well I know 7th got it ffor when they went to Afghanistan last year, but now they're back to dpm. I believe its till the 'new cut' is ready, then everyone will get it at once.

MTP should only be worn on parade or the green zone and when i was there it was only given to combat units and not the mong's or stab's

as for a load out what about a modern German rig since webbing also come's in flecktarn

thats what i thought would be the case, its only given to Combat units, not really any point spending a lot of money getting for everyone, might aswell get better weapons

well they did the upgrade from the A1 to A2 but thats just an example, buy more ammo etc. i don't know

there working on a sa80a3 it a cross between a sa80a2 and the LSW but most mongs carry the sa80 carbine were as i carried the l129 it the most modern rifle since the 80's

they do look very nice, so in the army are you given much choice over your weapon?

I'd guess the weapon is down to how good at shooting you are, no point giving the l129a1 to someone who's crap.

The only way I can see the l85 getting better is to perhaps make say, the lower receiver out of a polymer to reduce weight

it wasn't about how good a shot you are it whether you did a WHT on it, or do what i did and pulled rank

as for a choice in weapon no not really but you can swap with in your section
