On the plus side, at least backpack straps and the velcro on the smocks don't get tangled at all with all the velcro/blanking plates on the shirt sleeves.... ¬_¬
My keys always have gone in the back pocket so the trousers I don't mind. But between the excessive arm velcro, thin fabrics, rubbish hand warmer pockets & weak mesh zip pockets on the smock, I'm definitely going to be picking up CS95 cut MTP shirts and field jackets while I can.
I wouldn't even mind the velcro so much if it weren't for the absurd waste of time whereby you have to take the blankers down to the tailoress and get patches sewn on.

Having also served in both, 95's all the way. If only because you were meant to roll your sleeves up.
However, on the flip side, the PCS Jackets I can wear down to a much colder temperature than the 95 Jackets before having to put a Smock on I find. Which on exercise means that even patrols in the middle of the night I'll do in a shirt, rather than a smock.
If your a cadet and you have the money that allows you to pick and choose which of the MTP kit you get to wear, get the 95 Cut stuff, looks smarter and on days when its warm you'll be a little bit cooler whilst those in PCS melt.

Back on topic....
A few people do have characters, but these are mainly for specific themed games like Gunman's western games
Quite a few people do base their loadout around something no matter how broad it is.
I personally like basing my kit around something as it helps me target my spending so I don't just buy willy nilly bits of kit.
Just because you're basing your kit off something doesn't mean it has to be massively bulky or heavy or fully plate carriered up. My African kit is both accurate and very skirmishable!

I dont have a character nor do i base my kit on a unit or person.
When i started i just wanted MC EVERYTHING!! once i had MC everything i decided i looked like everyone else.
I now just wear what ever is comfy and works. No matching camo.
Today for example i will be in DCU combats, CB UBACS, Green PACA and OD chest rig.
