Regarding cold, the few guns I did choose to paint, I always warmed the paint can in hot (not boiling) water, warmed the parts to be painted with a hot air gun, & generally tried to ensure the location was reasonably warm, & I was always happy with the adhesion & finish of the paint (usually krylon).I really like the Halfords "Camouflage" series paint, it sticks really well (Not so much in the cold obviously) and the colours are a nice flat, dark tone. This was painted using the Halfords camo range (YMMV due to lighting/screens); View attachment 7180
You do have some amazing guns Bill. Not sure if you can see properly but the 'very light' parts are where the cold in my shed affected the paint as it was applied, more obvious on the L96

That looks very decent to me; I have never painted a gun and don’t intend to, but I do like to see them.Son wanted to try painting a rif, it's only half done but he's happy with it. Will add a lighter colour when it's dry thru a net for the snake skin effect. Not too bad for a 1st attempt I hope. Any advice appreciated. Cheers.
Boom boom... Lol.The worst part after camo painting your guns is finding them again…
I’ll see myself out
