Having seen your's and Luke's videos, I doubt that I will be getting one until they have made some changes, including redesigning the magwell to work with a wider range of midcaps and improving the durability of some of the internal components.

They look rather good, but to only fit hi-cap mags seems odd. I wonder if it would be a simple mod to ensure that most mid-caps fit.

Looks like the gearbox is a copy or made by LDT which made a gearbox for gel blasters. Check youtube for videos on the LDT ATM gearbox. The only changes I can see is the change to the mag detection and probably a slightly different BB feed. I like the look of it as an idea and I've ordered one. I'd be interested to see if it can be swapped into other AEG shells to make more models that currently aren't for sale. I have E&C MCX and it would be good to have this engine inside that shell.

The spring housing on top of a midcap is longer than on a high cap; the extra length seems to be the problem. The APS UAR V1 and V2 had the same issue, which could be solved by minor surgery in the magwell. It looks like the mag detection buttons might prevent this being the case for the E&C.

However, it seems that CYMA midcaps work in the E&C.

Not looking good so far, though Luke and ak2m4 are working on it and potentially sourcing some CNC parts for it. Luke does say its cheap as chips though, wonder how cheap? No doubt it’ll be a lot more but wonder what the new KWA system will be like when we see it, hopefully in a few months.

I understand Negatives point as he has to make money so for him it's not the best AEG as it works out the box and doesn't allow much room for the current trend of "boy racering" every new AEG with brushless this and fancy reinforced that. I've seen nothing on AK2M4's, Negatives or anyone else's video reviews that shows it doesn't fire BB's out the end without being tinkered with.
It fires around 1J and the trigger response is as fast as a GBB. The only thing worth tinkering with would be the hop up and hop rubber for consistency and accuracy and possibly the main spring to get it as close to the limits of your local site. For the hop rubber it looks like it will take most GBB rubbers and nubs and if you want to go crazy I'd imagine it could be S-hopped without too much trouble so you can sling .48's at 1J. The spring seems the difficult part if it isn't a common sniper rifle spring size however it won't be too long before aftermarket springs appear if the AEG sells well. Inner barrels should be a breeze if you need more accuracy at 50 meters however moving forward 5 meters might save you a few bob.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

@mightyjebus I am planning on doing some more videos but last week my barrels came in stock and I didn't have any free time. You're quite right in your assessment. I really need to do some more reliability tests out of the box, plus want to fit one my my new GBB inner barrels and new rubber.

Where did you order yours from?

I ordered mine from 18airsoft and due to the Chinese new year is likely to be posted today. I have this and a Mini 14 coming from Octagon and it's a guess to which one gets to my door first due to our customs.

Mine turned up today. Stock was loose so had to tighten the screw. First midcap I tried fitted no problem so I got lucky there. Fires very nicely and has a very mechanical sound to the recoil. It's a very solid feeling AEG and the recoil is heavier than my GBB's. Bad points are it doesn't connect to my eshooter app and I still haven't figured out how to decock it.

Cheers @ButcherBill turns out it's a variation of that. remove the mag and dry fire until the bolt locks back (this should get rid of any BB in the inner barrel). Once locked back, release the bolt using the bolt release and keep the bolt release held down and pull the trigger (on Semi) and keep holding the trigger down. The gun will cycle and end up with the bolt to the front. After around 3 to 4 seconds the piston will release.

EDIT - if anyone was wondering my midcap is a double eagle midcap https://www.bespokeairsoft.co.uk/do...ies-mid-cap-magazine-polymer-185-rounds-black
10 quid a pop.

so VSR style springs don't fit as they are too thick. My piston release has stopped working for some reason. Go through the sequence and it clicks after 4 seconds but doesn't release the piston. This was before I took the gearbox to bits so not my fault in this case :)
I fitted a Quantum hop rubber and it requires modding (cut off the tab) and the nub is too big so I had to chop it down to fit. Seems to be working and I'm getting 300 FPS on a 0.25g bb.

Ran mine yesterday for the first time and it worked really well. Only issue was my own fault as I had swapped out the hop rubber for a quantum with chopped nub which still overhopped .25's with the hop off. It wasn't a massive amount of overhop and since I was at a CQB site with long range shots not really needed it worked out fine. The double eagle mags had feeding issues as they don't sit far enough up in the magwell and the best mags seem to be E&C stanag midcaps as they ran flawlessly.

Overall very impressed with how it performed and for anyone who is happy to run stock or with few modifications, then it's worth a buy.

@mightyjebus sounds like it performed pretty well. Pretty sure I have some of those E&C mid mags coming in a free weeks. Interested to see how well the stock gears hold up since I'm seeing after-market gears arriving on the market.

good to know after market gears might be available to support it. Would be good if one of the UK spring manufacturers could look at doing a slightly stronger spring for it.

I received mine yesterday. It's been fun to play around with but I've already had to break it down and remedy an issue.

Whilst the gun fires, it was intermittent, as the it wouldn't allow me to fire at points, and full auto barely worked.

There is a small light emitted by a hall sensor by the right side of the receiver that detects when a full cycle has occurred - when the bolt cycles the light goes out and once the bolt is back into battery, the light turns on.

What was happening was that when the bolt cycled fully, sometimes that light wouldnt turn on. And the only way for me to make it work was to rack to bolt a couple of times (kinda like a real life jam 😅)

I took the gun apart and noticed that the hall sensor was intermittent. That changed when I had my magnetic screwdriver near it, and it became fully functional. So I tried magnetising the area by attaching the motor to the bolt and sensor for a while to see if this would work.

I partially put it back together and it's fully working again. Full auto works fine and semi works fine.

Ive put around 400bbs worth through it and it's still chugging along.

I have a skirmish tomorrow and I play to use it so will update here.

So game day.

Gun fires well, easily getting 50-60m on .28g BBS at 288 to 290 FPS.

It's been very fun to play with, the bolt has a noticeable ping that is really loud.

One issue I did encounter was being able to fire whilst the bolt is in the process of locking back. Though this only occurs if you spam your trigger near empty, essentially not allowing enough time for the bolt to lock back.

What happens during this the gun can still fire but it will just rotate the gears causing a grinding noise.

To avoid this I would shoot slowly, or slower if you know you're near empty.

Other than this the gun has been fun and it's always locked back. I have another game this Sunday at Mayhem and I'll report back here.

if you have Nuprol stanag Midcaps (30/140Cap ones) they work perfectly. The tab at the back of the BB port on the magazine is the same size as the E&C high cap that comes with it

ran mine again today and worked really well. running 0.25 tracers and with the modified quantum I'm getting 50+ meters. Overall I'm a big fan and I'll probably pick up another once they get into UK stores.
