CYMA AK hop unit clip not clipping?

I have recently decided to change my basic cyma hop rubber to a 4uantum friction pro and the nub however after taking the unit apart and putting this new rubber in the clip that hold the barrel into place simply just does not go in and when forced just springs out. It looks absolutely no different to when the old rubber was in place and I do not see whats getting in the way of putting the clip back in.

Ahoy and welcome.

Your barrel isn't seating as far into the hop unit as with the stock rubber. This sometimes happens with Maple Leafs as well.

You can try another rubber; lube and push the barrel in hard until the clip retains; enlarge the slots in the barrel with a file or Dremel until the clip engages; forget about the clip and tape the barrel in place.
