Currently I have an Ares Amoeba AM-016 M4 and a Tokyo Marui G17.

Looking for a back-up rifle mainly for outdoor use. Spend say £200ish and would be handy if it was an M4 platform running 7.4v LiPo sticks.

What do you recommend?

Best bet would be something really reliable like a G&G or TM, In my opinion anyway!

I have come to value the split gearboxes of ICS for my backup gun. The ability to change the spring in 1 minute is extremely useful in the backup, it can be a woodland power one week and a CQB be the next. Something with a quick spring change in my opinion is very useful for a backup so it can deal with every site.

G&G GC4 G26 seems reasonable and pretty good, any thoughts?

I've recently been in the same boat.

I went for a G&G CM18. It was £165 from Zero One and for the money, I'm very happy with it.

It is quite plasticky, but the build is solid. Only wobble is from the stock, and that is only slight.

Shoots really well, good rate of fire and range is nice too.

And it looks different to the CM16 and Raiders that most tend to get - the two tone Black/Tan is nice.

Not sure how accepting of LiPo batteries it'd be though. I've got Nimhs.

I ended up getting the CM18, pretty nice gun out of the box :)

Magpul clone CTR stock is a big improvement to it. :)

The only problem I ever had with it was that I thought 250 grams was too expensive for iron sights.
