Ares SPRING AW .338

If that thing is fully VSR compatible, then it stands to reason that the AW will be as well. So at least my hopes now have a foundation Flynn lol.

Hey, this is ARES, never underestimate their stupidity ;)

I mean the M40 not the Assbury by "that thing", just to clarify.

Yah.

So I mean, if the M40 is fully VSR compatible and that's made by Ares, then it stands to reason that the already available AW will be as well, especially since they appear to both be practically the exact same system, which also seems to be a copy of sorts, of the TM L96 AWS system, what with the mag placement being correct and everything.

RedWolf have a review of it up now:

I'm not sure review is really the right word as they really didn't cover much, but it seems pretty good and it looks seriously nice. Loving that it's metal as well.

You're right about the looks, it does look really great... still want to know what inside it though

<_<

She reminds me of Sheva from Resi5, or at least she sounds a bit like her.

I don't think she's the best looking girl in the world, I'd rather have a go with the gun lol.

Just found this whilst browsing around:

Anyone else more turned on by it now? If that Asian guy is actually an employee of Ares then this might be the confirmation I've been waiting for to know if it's fully VSR10 compatible or not. He says it is.

I might have to pick one up on loan day... Especially considering RedWolf are now in the UK, meaning I can grab an OD one...

God I'm excited.

I'm in a library... does he say fully compatible or just compatible?

He says >all< the components are VSR compatible. Same piston, springs and spring guide are the three things he specifies.

I wonder if it takes the VSR sears and cylinder and stuff as well...

I PM'd dazz from ASPUK earlier on to see if he's seen any since they were released, he might know something by now.

God I hope it takes all parts, I want one almost as much as the ASW

I just read a post on Facebook on a similar topic to this that I'd never thought of before.

Apparently, Ares' last spring sniper system was fully VSR compatible, do you know what that was? I'm guessing the WA2000. I might have to look into it.

If it's true then I'm really setting my hopes high. If this thing is VSR compatible then it'll be truly, truly awesome.

I think the WA2k was took a lot of VSR parts but not all, but it does give hope...

Edit: It's the Piston, cylinder, cylinder head, spring guide, spring and the hop rubber that are the same- I'd assume the barrel is too

Just looked through a chinese review of the .338, used google translate on what I could

'HOP UP appearance similar to the VSR

Lighter than gas version heavier than maruzen

Vsr-10 general-purpose part, including ........

Cylinder, cylinder head, the racket head (piston head maybe?), tail, top, hopup rubber, 45 degree sear and set-pin L96AWS tube (barrel probably) (500mm long)

Two white apron (… I'm guessing this is refering to the cylinder spacers?) of the other original vsr-10 receiver needs the right amount of tinkering before they are packed on aw.338'

Ares have just posted this on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/ph...e=1&theater

The AW .338 is one of the compatible models, anyone recognise the system? Look familiar to VSR internals or anything?

I wish there was more info on this kit... Like what it enables you to do, in detail. As well as the price. That'd be good.

I've still not found a UK shop stocking the OD version of the rifle though, even RedWolf has sold all the ones they had. The second one comes in I'm getting it through, I'll find a way to make it good if it sucks lol. Just so determined to have one.

it is vsr internals mate.its £299.99 and you can get the od body from fire support

I can only find the gas rifles and associated parts on Fire-Support, are you sure they do the spring one?

Finally found a user review:

Still nothing on the internals, as such, but this guy gives it a thumbs up and the feeding mechanism doesn't use the Marui system, which means the BBs won't be marked during the loading process, so there's no chance of a loss in accuracy.

If I can find one anywhere, in OD, I'm buying it for definite.

In fact I'm going to email RedWolfUK right now and enquire about getting one.

Js guys, if you ring up Redwolf UK and ask for a quote they may have some in stock, they just don't have a website (still).
