I think that is acceptable.

The only thing I wouldn't post up would be his address because I would want to be sure I was the first one there to give him a fuckin' wet slap!!

Peace and love to all. except you Suvekette!

Regards

Idk if I should make a dedicated thread, but there is a quite simple scam going around these days (especially in WhatsApp/Telegram groups).

Basically the buyer comes up with a screenshot from PayPal in which PP asks for a code.

In the meantime the buyer receives said code from PP via SMS.

DON'T give that code to the buyer, it's basically a payment request from the buyer, he'll take the money and disappear, nothing you can do really as it seems to be registering as a F&F transfer.

Posting because I'm seeing this shit coming up at least twice a day in the telegram groups I'm in.

Idk if it's a purely Italian thing or if it happens elsewhere, so be careful guys.

It's in Italian, but you get the idea of the screen you're being sent.

When I sell an item it gets to me that people are dubious of me, naturally I understand why but I always go the extra mile to ensure they know all is well with videos, receipts for postage and the like.

this is why i like the forum environment, gives you a better feel for the person you're buying/selling with.

i'm much less dubious of buying from someone i see posting regularly and being part of the community.

of course its understandable that the likes of ebay etc are going to have that extra layer of paranoia surrounding them.

Ad is still up but the link to his details is dead so hopefully he’s been kicked off the website

While I was "talking" to him last night he was very quick to respond, expecting instant payment lol, but then his last few messages were deleted, those with any details, so I'm guessing he got spooked, the dumbass lol, I'd already screenshot them but even if I hadn't the info is also in my email notifications ?

It's not much but I passed it on to the guy he scammed who appears pleased.

I'd be interested to know if this turns out to be a Pro or some kid trying his luck ?

Graham from Airsoft Nation banned him already and has contacted those who might have PM'd the dude.

Teamwork ?

Great job Graham!

@L3wisDwould you mind taking a look at my last message (about the PP scam) and see if you can pin it somewhere?

Scammers can burn in hell for what they do to people for all I care, you live by the sword you die by the sword, post everything up and cause him maximum ball ache.

I'll see what I can do. Must admit I've not heard of that technique before.

Also, please keep your wits about you - Apparently Stephen Glennie is back to his old tricks YET AGAIN on Z1, under another new screen name of Airsoft4U.

Don't so swaps with any Northern Ireland post code if you can help it!

Apologies to any genuine northern Ireland Airsofters, but Glennie has fucked it for the lot of you.

This just got posted on zin, apparently Glennie has another username here (or more ?), DeeDee.

There’s a PTS Mega Arms listed in the swaps section here under the name Deedee. If it’s confirmed dodgy can it be removed?

I think this is another example of why we need a dedicated thread where these scams can be posted. Dodgy usernames and listings can be added and users can check through the post before buying. Just a thought.

They can, but they won't.

I do agree with spotting them, but it's probably better i@L3wisD et al just nuke them from orbit.

Better to kill 99 innocent airsofters than to let one Stephen Glennie list freely, sadly.

Hey fellas,

Just wanted to reach out here to say thanks to those who got in touch and say sorry to anyone here if they were baited into this dirty scammer.

His account has been marked, which means he cannot re-use the email, I've also followed up with 3 other accounts he has created and i'll continue to monitor over the coming days.

The adverts are gone and I've reached out to all his recent private conversations to let them know to stop any further communication and contact PayPal if they'd recently paid.

Unfortunately it's not possible for me to monitor every private message and advert; it's one of the reasons I have no interest in handling the transaction within the platform. Keep your due-diligence whether on AN, this forum or anywhere else when it comes to sales. Offering to meet in person usually puts off the scammers.

Anyway, thanks again. Be safe and I hope to see some of you on a game day in the near future.

Going through https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/transfer/homepage/request and requesting money from another version of myself it appears to be a F&F payment - there's no mention of fees at either end.

That's distinct from an invoice https://www.paypal.com/invoice/create which is what I send and ask people to send, and which does attract fees and has the protections.

Although I'm way less than 99% sure of that.

I tried with my business account to my personal account and it tried to clobber me with a £0.33 fee but personal to personal looks like zero fees - interesting.
