Help needed - Really want to start Airsoft BUT..
WillMidz replied to WillMidz's topic in General Discussion
@DanBow I would not of guessed those scars came from BBs ! Jeeezzz @TheFull9 This is consistent advice across the forum. Thank you. @Cheeky vimto yeah I can see me ending up down the sniping route. I’ve always loved the idea of a sniper. @Rogerborg Wow okay! The SA Flex seems like the winner then for my first Airsoft gun! @pyromancer6 Yeahhh the olive drew me in straight away. For the UK I’d rather have an olive gun in a forest than a black/ tan one. @Cannonfodder Thanks for that Cannon. There’s a lot of noise on places like Reddit that almost derailed my interest in starting this amazing sport. PPE will be on the list the same time I order my gun . I’ve got some gloves from mountain biking for my first rental sesssion CQB but I will definitely buy some that suit my Airsoft outfit . Next question: What do you guys recommend for safety goggles / mask to cover your eyes and face where anti fog works well? -

WOW the Specna Arms Flex! I totally overlooked and ignored this gun! This gun looks great. What do the rest of you think about this gun? : Specna Arms Flex https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-sa-f05-rl-flex-tm-hal-etu-tm-m4-ar-15-aeg?pv=26812 -

@Reef Just saw your comment my man ! The edge is what I was drawn to but again , people online kept shouting about what parts to replace immediately like the gearbox ! im a new starter . I’m not taking that gun apart for some time! 😂 what do you think? p.s I think from what the guys in this forum say, for my first gun, an SA for first gun is right at the top end of what I should spend before it’s no longer a “first gun” . @The_Lord_Poncho Thank you for talking batteries and chargers. I need to know about that too but really I need to pick a gun first 😂 -

Thank you guys for sharing the safety gear. I will definitely be covering my face aswel as eyes. Now to try and narrow the gun search down to the right gun for me. I think I’ve found the best gun I can buy on patrol base for the money (not purchasing until I get my UKARA) Please compare and tell me which one you’d pick and why? (If you have a recommendation that trumps what I’ve found , please shout up): CYMA .605 M4 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-605-m4-carbine-aeg?pv=9554 Specna Arms C 19 CoreM4 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-daniel-defense-r-sa-c19-core-tm-hal-etu-tm-mk18-m4-ar-15-aeg?pv=24996 It seems for my price range it’s CYMA V SA. If anyone can recommend me a more competitive site than patrol base please do. Thanks again for your continued support. Quality Engineers make very picky people 😂 I do apologise. -

@DanBow Hi Dan, im seeking as much advice as possible from all angles to reach a solid conclusion so thank you. I forgot to add , the reason I booked a CQB session instead of a field was because I thought that the rental guns are probably battered and are highly likely to underperform. My thought pattern was that it mattered less at close range than at long range. however, it’s the skirmish sites I’m interested in. Flanking enemies, hiding in the undergrowth behind enemy lines before popping up out of the ferns and spraying all those in my sights . That will be my sort of play style 😂 I’m fine with the war wounds 😀 online drivel is accurate, nearly every gun I check the reviews on there’s a bloke saying don’t buy this piece of junk! Wm Airsoft my friend . It’s in the West Midlands. -

@Tackle Thanks for that. I do like the look and sound of the Specna Arms Edge 2.0 Series BUT I’m going to take the peoples advice and go for something more budget/ beginner friendly to start with , so polymer instead of full metal and hopefully as reliable as can be. I’ve seen on patrol base : Sa C19 Core https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-daniel-defense-r-sa-c19-core-tm-hal-etu-tm-mk18-m4-ar-15-aeg?pv=24996 Delta Armoury Bravo bundle https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/delta-armory-da-b13-intermediate-bravo-bundle G and G Armenent CM16 2.0 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/g-g-combat-machine-cm16-raider-2-0?pv=5103 Same again from G&G https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/g-and-g-armament-combat-machine-cm16-raider-l?pv=2438 CYMA CM .623 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-623-m4-m-lok-airsoft-rifle G and G Cm 18 MOD 1 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/g-and-g-armament-combat-machine-cm18-mod1-aeg-rifle?pv=5738 So much to choose from , such little knowledge I have ! Please share your opinions and thoughts on these guns for my first Airsoft gun. Good beginner gun, easy accessible parts that makes repairs simple and maintenance , shoots relatively well for that price range and durable to withstand the mistakes of an Amateur. @Jez_Armstrong That’s what I’m looking for! A good enough stock gun to have fun with that’s as reliable as can be for that price range to allow me to play . At the end of the day, all I’ll want to do is play and have fun. No mods, little repairs as possible to keeping me playing for as long as possible. The more I play, the more fun I have , the more I get into Airsoft .. inevitably my budget will expand with my enjoyment to a reasonable mature amount for a young lad that’s just bought his first house and looking to get married in the near future 😂 ouch! I’m a tad nervous about CQB now 😂 but nothing like a good old Baptism of fire 😂 🔥 @The_Lord_Poncho Great advice thank you . I plan on getting these : Bolle X810 https://www.bolle-safety.com/gb/x810-5294.html?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAo5aBKb83N5LeHvczb8tHDcZx6qkm&gclid=CjwKCAiAh6y9BhBREiwApBLHC-pxrsvmit1hQO-6MT6ST0E_rFn_Qng1cnAIbC_Q2Fhzr9p-P4G5fhoCPTkQAvD_BwE @Madhouse That’s what I was scared of so I’m glad you said that! Biking is expensive period! that is so true and it’s my biggest problem, I pay so much to the negatives, I don’t trust something that is rated Very good on average ! @Mik3F I’m happy to go a bit more for my first gun and get the Specna arms CORE and source all the other stuff I need separately. What do you think? -

@Emergencychimps Love the name ! 😂 and yes great advice by all 👍👍👌 And that’s the case with all hobbies pretty much, I just felt like if I was spending 100s I was going to have a bag of crap that was practically unplayable. That’s how people on Reddit make it sound. I’m probably going to have played 4/5 games before I get my UKARA so that’s good advice that suits me . -

@Rogerborg 1) Thank you for that advice! I will do that and I cannot wait. First ever Airsoft experience. 2) Sorry I’ve asked again about the Specna and then saw your response. Okay thanks for that and thank you for being honest and understanding rather than just saying I need to throw 100s at my first gun because all the others are inferior. That’s what I’ve read about the G and Gs , they’ve fallen behind. You know your stuff! I will need to keep referring to all this information when I go to make my first purchase . Roger, what CYMAs would you recommend for my first gun and I was also told to stay away from delta armoury. -

Guys , once again thank you for your responses! Sorry if I miss anyone or anything in my response, there’s been so many since I last posted 😂 @AK47frizzle This is what I noticed . A very hands on activity /hobbie. I don’t mind if it’s simpler than a full suspension electric mountain bike because my ORBEA was just too much for a novice biker. I’m always casual in whatever I do and things like mountain biking require a hell of a lot of time , patience and money. £1500 mountain bike full sus electric is nothing compared to what everyone was riding at my local trail. One ride round my local trail and the derailleur broke .. £300 to replace . I cannot do this again.. it was mental / emotional torture 😂😂 @ButcherBill Again, relating to my mountain bike experience , thank you! Doubling my budget with Airsoft is fine if it’s a £300 gun. Doubling my budget with a mountain bike budget was thousands and I hated cleaning the bike , servicing the bike and repairing the bike. I think hobbies like that you have to love every minute of being round the bike. Can’t just dip in and out. I like your quote but my partner may disagree 😂😂😂 @Tackle That’s really reassuring thank you. What guns do you have and what do you recommend for me as a new starter. I really like the M4s as people say their parts are common and for this reason, easy to replace. I cannot wait for my first game. I’m just prepping for the day I get my UKARA 😃😃 @Reef what was your second gun my friend ? What did you go up to? —- Everyone else. I’ve read your comments and I’m digesting all of it so thank you! It’s something I wanted to do since I was a kid but I’m a cautious cat. I ask 1000s of questions before I do anything 😂 22nd Feb is my first ever Airsoft session and it’s at a CQB site. indoor —- Would you advise against the Specna Arms Edge 2.0 as my first gun? Am I better off going with a cheaper gun and getting experience with that first ? -

Hi all, absolutely overwhelmed with this forum from the get go at how quick your responses were and how positive and honest they are ! Thank you . Now, in response to your questions and comments : 1)I have booked a session at my local site and I have booked a rental kit. This will allow me to get a feel for whether or not I enjoy the sport BUT I very much anticipate I will! At 28 years of age I know who I am and what I like. 2) if I enjoy it , I am going to get my UKARA from that site but my questions are in preparation for when I have my UKARA. 3) I am looking at starting with a Specna Edge 2.0 because I want a gun that is accurate for that price range , reliable , company has good customer care and quality control during the warranty period, quick spring release makes me take a liking to it instantly , good quality parts usually mean longevity. (But I could be wrong with Airsoft which is why I’m seeking advice ). Also from what I see G and G s compared to Specna for like for like come out more for the G and G for what you get which is why I’m leaning towards the Specna but again , what do I know. Hence why I’m seeking advice. 4) Are people exaggerating when they say their guns fail out of the box nearly every game when I’ve read the reviews of guns that people recommend and are priced around £300? I feel as though they aren’t quite telling you what they’ve done to the gun themselves .. ie tinkering . Surely out of the box they can’t be that bad ! Or they would never sell! By the way, I do expect to have maintenance / repair costs over a reasonable period of time. I’m a Quality Engineer for aerospace.. Mechanical parts break, require servicing , and regular cleaning and inspection. But, my plan would be to service the gun at the start of the year , to play for the spring and summer. So I’m expecting 6 months play and full service which sounds sensible to me. Playing once / twice a month. -
Hi everyone, I’m in a right pickle when it comes to deciding whether to get into Airsoft or not. My biggest fear after the amount of things I’ve read about the reliability of Airsoft guns (AEGs because that is what is recommended for a Beginner/New to Airsoft) is that it’s going to become another hobbie like Mountain Biking where I spent more time repairing the bloody thing than enjoying it for what it allows me to do and the sport itself. Playing Airsoft is what I’m interested in for many reasons. A constantly broken gun will prevent me from enjoying those things whilst eating away at my bank account which I can’t justify when It’s bringing me little pleasure. Could you guys give me your honest opinion please? Your honesty will either put my concerns to bed and allow me to continue my journey into “Getting into Airsoft” or not. I’m willing to spend money initially for a good AEG to ensure i get a reliable piece of kit but from what I read, no AEG is reliable in general. So that you know what I’m looking at to compare against what I’m saying, here are the guns I’ve looked into and consider good quality : Specna Arms Edge 2.0 or Prime. Surely £300 secures a reliable gun as it’s not exactly entry level ? I know things will break as ALL things in life do BUT I’ve read that people have an issue with a gun that is considered “good quality “ I.e £300+ after nearly every game. Investing in a gun that doesn’t require modifying for a good while as I’m new so good to play with out of the box that is reliable and if it breaks, is typically cheap to repair would be enough to get me into Airsoft.
