  1. Hi all,

I've looked on-line and can't find many reviews of Evolution Airsoft or their RIF's, so I was wondering if anyone here has any feedback regarding them? If so, I'm just trying to find out things like:

    • how reliable are their RIF's?

    • are the internals and their QC?

    • how good are their electronics (mainly their MOSFET's and the ETSIII system)?

Anything really, thanks in advance. 😎👍

I bought a v2 recently.   It's great fun to shoot, but not shooting as well as I'd like.  So do test fire it before buying, and really you want to shoot it somewhere where you can ensure it's accurate at 40+ metres, not just at short range.   This means the gun's power, innate accuracy (or lack) and the effectiveness of the hop can be gauged.  Ideally take some heavier BBs with you for testing the hop.

(If you can only test at short range, make sure it feeds properly in semi and full auto as the minimum.  Try to take a chrono to test the velocity variance isn't too much)

I started a Tippmann owner's thread, so feel free to bung specific questions in there.   In terms of maintenance, the stuff I've meddled with so far has been quite 'mechanical' and simple - easier so far than fiddling with an AEG gearbox.   But then again it's not working quite right yet... I'm a million miles from being the right person to ask :)

TBH, the RIF didn't seem to have a good rate of fire (in the video that was supplied) and I'm not particularly invested in getting a HPA so I'm probably not going to get it (mainly asking questions to expand my knowledge of HPA and as a politeness to the seller). 🙄 Also, I wouldn't be able to test fire the RIF before buying as I don't live close to the seller so he would have to post it to me (not that it matters but I don't own a chrono either). 😳

Polarstar etc are all modified AEG’s, Tippman is a dedicated HPA gun, and pretty much all GBB’s can be converted using a replacement input valve

Decide what you want really, the modified AEG’s are quiet, fast, but zero immersion.

GBBR’s on HPA have recoil and realism

Tippmans run AEG mags with recoil

Mainly trying to find out more as I've just had an offer for a Tippmann v1 (with tank and line), for £260, but I've mainly been looking at AEG's so don't know a lot about HPA. 😊

  4. Hi all,

As stated in the title I'm considering HPA but I have no idea where to start or anything more than you have a tank of compressed air strapped to you which blows BB's out of your RIF when you pull the trigger. 😳

Some of the questions that spring to mind are:

    • Is a Tippmann RIF a good starting point or are other brands considered a better starting point?

    • What are the pros/con's of the different brands of HPA (Polarstar, Wolverine, etc)?

    • How easy are HPA RIF's to use and maintain (what needs cleaning, how often, etc)?

Any, and all, advice is greatly appreciated. 😃

    Thanks in advance. 😎👍

You want to get Deans connectors, it’s a small high performance connector that will allow you to use LiPo batteries, mini-tamiya can melt with sustained use.

Sorry, just re-glued that I didn't specify 'Arcturus' when I asked about the battery connector. 😳

Yeah, Deans (also called T-Connectors) are the best for efficiency.

You should get a 7.4v Li-Po (or two) 1000mAh or higher. (Not Nuprol)

...and a decent charger like a SkyRC s60 or similar.  (Not Nuprol)

Haha, I'm reading between the lines here but I don't think Nuprol are very popular. 😊

Many sites rules for DMRs say the gun must have the full auto function physically disabled so a programable trigger or mosfet wouldn't be acceptable

Oh, thought DMR's could be electronic locked or physically locked. 😳

Good luck with the UKARA. Can be a while to actually receive it. Happy hunting when you do! 👍

Thanks, got to wait until Tuesday for the UKARA but that's not a problem. 😊

Welcome! Airsoft is built on honesty so make it fun for everyone and take your hits, go home with a clear conscience 😎

Bang for buck the SA E03 or Arcturus GR16 IMO.

As for G&G I like them but you’d want an Advanced series and they cost more.

I would not advise anyone to buy Ares,  they are special in wrong ways.

I wouldn’t get to bent up on a DMR, if your assault rifle is tuned there’s not massive difference in range between them.

To make a truly worthy DMR you’d want a specific rifle that wouldn’t work  in other roles really.

Do you have any idea what the battery connector is (mini-tamiya or deans)?

  7. Hi all,

Hopefully getting my UKARA defence tomorrow, so wanted to get some feedback before I make my final choice for my new RIF. 😀

My current train of thought is to get a RIF that can be used as an AR or possibly changed/upgraded to a DMR at some point (if that appeals to me), hence why the ones on my shortlist have quick change springs and programmable triggers. 😊 I have considered G&G (as my local store sells them) but they don't have quick change springs, tightbore barrels, aren't very programmable and seem over priced for what you get (unless someone can change my mind). 😏

I'm not totally set on the RIF's below but my shortlist is down to:

    • Specna Arms Rock River Arms SA-E03 EDGE 2.0™ Carbine AEG, Black (has a MOSFET, programmable electric trigger, 6.03mm tightbore barrel and a metal receiver)

    • Evolution Airsoft Recon S EMR, ETS (or S ETS) (has a MOSFET/programmable electric trigger (according to Patrol Base), 6.01mm tightbore barrel and a metal receiver)

    • Double Eagle M906*, 7* or 8* w/Falcon Fire Control System (has a MOSFET, programmable electric trigger and a metal receiver) (looking at M908A as it's got a longer barrel if I wanted to DMR it at any point 🤔)

I think I'm leaning more towards the first or second ones though as the seem to tick all the boxes. 🤔

Thanks in advance for any advice. 😎👍

I've two DE's and look after a third (my sons), all three have been fully disassembled multiple times to the level of the gearbox having been in pieces (M904E, M906C and an M908A).

Really it's not a MOSFET or an ETU, it's a "controller" like a GATE Titan or Perun Hybrid with optical sensors, however it's a much cheaper "knock off" so you've no pre-cocking and active-braking etc. (also the "battery protection" isn't as sophisticated as say the GATE Titan). Having said all that though, for what can be a £160 rifle depending upon the model, they're bloody amazing (trigger response and rate of fire).

Regarding which material is "stronger" it's finely balanced, but for the best long term strength I'd have to say the polymer. The metal bodies on the M900's are not all that thick, and I'm as certain as I can be that they're of a cheap alloy to keep costs low (it was so easy using just a manual hand drill to modify my M908A to create a hole in the lower receiver to fit a nut and bolt to lock it to semi-only for a DMR), but the polymer is very rigid and can take a good hard knock.

So, you think it would be better to go 'polymer' (904* version) and save a few extra £££'s over the metal versions (906*, 907* & 908* versions)? 🤔
