Takes me back to my magfed days, playing with my TGR and it's bottle stock ? No I'm all about the freedom of AEG and battery power. I just need to learn a new game style is all, an I think with my build heavier BBs is the key
-
Cheers for the help so far chaps, an as someone who use to play paintball I enjoy the freedom an AEG brings me. Any who from what you chaps are saying at 4.3 and 4 I'm a tad underweight and think I'm going to see what I can do with some heavier BBs
-
Hi all I've been playing for years now, but have just entered the realm of the DMR player and I'm hoping to get some advise on what weight BB to use. I've only just got my build and took it out for it's first spin Saturday and went with some 3s, but I think I might need to go heavier. I'm running an AEG, which has been extensively upgraded and I'm chroning on a 3 at 367fps/1.88 joules. Looking at it now a 3 isn't really that heavy, as a lot of people run 3s in their upgraded AEGs. So the question is how heavy is heavy enough to reach out and touch that person on the other side of the field ?

I have tbh I'm now running my L85 and L86 without any form of optics. If you excuse the optic on my AFV in the pic I now run it without anything. I've had a mock surpressor added and that hides a 360mm inner barrel. Having the mock surpressor gives me the length I need to aim with. The L86 is even easier to aim with, as the inner barrel is a beast at nearly 600mm and that's hidden by the outter and again I just use the end of the barrel to aim with. When I was using the red dot though I used the riser as it let me move the unit up and away from my eye. Being far sighted I just needed it moved away a bit, but I was able to get the red dot adjusted to a point it was allowing me to put a BB on target at around 60 meters.

It's such a trade off though, as the G&G version is tbh the best of the bunch out there. I love my L86, but ICS put this god awful hop unit in it and you can't change it. Well you can, if you buy English Kiwi one which I did but just couldn't dial it in to get it to a point it was consistent enough to use it. So I'm back with the ICS unit, but it is the weakest part of my build. The new Ares L85 A3 isn't great, I'm mates with a well known tech who was asked to upgrade one from new and said it was probably one of the worst bits of kit his worked on. So my hope is I can have a bit of flesh taken out of the magwell, which will let me use my Lonex mags.
-
Yeah catch isn't the issue, it seems like the magwell gets a little more narrow towards the top and non G&G mags are a struggle to get in/out. I've tried Nurprol, Krytac and some other brands. My Krytac mags fit nicely and 3 of the Nurprol ones I have fit, but the other three won't go in even though they are exactly the same mag. Of my Lonex mags 2 will go in with some perswading, but pulling them out is a harder than getting them in. Then the other 6 get about half way and it feels too tight, so begins the fight to get them back out again. Not as bad as the ones I can get in, but it's still not an easy task and not something you could do mid game ? As a rule I prefer using my Lonex mags and I'm feed up taking so many mags on game day, so thought I wonder if anyone else has had this issue and what they did to fix it. I've got my G&G rails from Fire support, which fit over the stock dovetail rail and they are held in with a screw. I've got one on my ICS L86 and ther other of my G&G L85
-
Just wondering has anyone modified their magwell? I want to use My Lonex flash mags in my G&G L85, but it's a struggle to get them in or pull them out after you get one in. So I wondered if anyone else has had this issue and if so what you did to get your mags to fit your magwell.

This is what I have on my one at the moment, just need a nudge in the right direction as to what I can fit on it if anyone can help

I've just picked up a Nurprol Elcan, which came with the mounting bracket but no top mount reflex sight. Does anyone know if I can fit any micro red dot to it? Or are there only certain ones I can mount on these brackets?

G&G L85 AFV dovetail rail removal
TommoThomson replied to TommoThomson's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Its just a tad annoying as I got an Ares Susat, which I can't use as it has an 11mm rail on the bottom of it and all the dove tail rail converters that I can find are all 11mm so again I can't even get one of them ?♂️ -
G&G L85 AFV dovetail rail removal
TommoThomson replied to TommoThomson's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I had a feeling some fetterling of some kind might be the way forward, I think the ICS rail would even need this due to the position of those screw points. So I guess its time to put one's big boy pants on and take that upper off and see what's what -
G&G L85 AFV dovetail rail removal
TommoThomson replied to TommoThomson's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
How wide is the ICS rail, I've also got the L86 but its with the tech as I broke it and can get the ICS rail ?♂️ I think its got two fixed threaded screw on the under side of the rail, which push three two holes in the upper receiver and these are kept in place with a couple of nuts. I had to tighten it up a few years ago, but since its been rebuilt I've not wanted to take it apart, as well it's working ? -
Are there any G&G L85 AVF owners who have replaced the dovetail rail, which G&G fit? I've been hunting all over the place and just can't find stock of the G&G rail converter so that's a none starter. As G&G fitted a 20mm dovetail I can't buy any of the rail converters you see listed online, as these are all 11mm which is the correct width for a dovetail rail. So if there is anyone out there, who might have unbolted the stock G&G rail and fitted a good old fashioned picatiny rail could you please let me know and what you used. As I really want to off this rail and fit a picatiny rail.

I've heard good things about the G&P one as well, so might take another look at these. That's never good when things break after only using them a few times, hope you can fix it and get to use it again

I've been looking for a drum mag and come across the angel custom one, just wondering if anyone has one as I can't seem to find any user reviews. Or does anyone have any stanag drum mag suggestions, I want to use it on my ICS L86

Looking for some Lipo charger buying direction
TommoThomson replied to TommoThomson's topic in General Help
I've had it years now and tbh I think it's a cheap clone and it did me well, but it keeps saying I have a connection break and beeping even though the wires are connected correctly externally. So I can't do a thing with it and I do need it for obvious reasons ? -
I'm in need of some charger buying advice please, as my Imax B6AC charger has decided it no longer wants to charge anything. So I thought I would see what you folks have and get the low down on what's good and what to avoid and who to buy from as there is so much crap out there ?
-
I would say that was a life hack, you got things working so you could play on ?
-
Yeah I won't be doing that ?
-
I see so warranty is a bad word ? Ok that aside I have run into the whole trying to wedge a battery into a stock, it is a pain nothing seems to fit ? But I will take a look at the smaller 7.4s

I was reading through this thread as I have a GC16 Predator on the way and I wasn't able to see some of the batteries. Can someone let me know what the best power to use is, as I read that G&G say you can use a 11.1 1300mAh 15c but no higher or it voids your warranty. However I was keen to see what you folks are suggesting, as I dont want to kill my Predator through using an OP battery.
