I won an Oshiboom off of the Airsoft Competitions site.

I've used it in the hard floor environment of Spec Ops "The Fireplace".

I've not used it very often yet, but I've had relativity few failures so far, a couple of light strikes on the soft primers I'm using.  Mostly from shallow throws that were more like bowling it across the floor..  going to retrieve a failed throw is a bit of a walk of shame 😂

I've also had a really memorable kill in the helicopter which was great, and winkled out a well ensconced enemy

All in all, it's a worthwhile thing to have in my armoury.

Appreciate it thanks for replying! Seems like the Oshiboom one is a bit more consistent, good to hear not many failures.

Definitely keen to get a multi-shot BFG, I have a single use Dynatex timed nade but reloading that thing is a pain in the butt.

I use oshiboom and I never had other bfg's so I can't form an opinion on it but I see many people struggle to kill others regardless of brand simply because all of these impact grenades have the same issues. Lot of times they don't go off and it doesn't matter if you use the softest primer or the hardest surface. Because you're so limited how to post it you can't do too much about it.

Yeah seems to be a very common thing, especially playing outdoors and considering the rules for throwing them like you mention. I mostly play CQB and feel I have to give it a try though, reloading a single shot BFG isn’t really viable for shorter games.

  2. Hi!

Had a look around but can’t see many reviews on the Oshiboom OMFG so thought I’d check here! Ive read it’s just a rip of the TI Quake 8, but anyone have any experience with the two?

Is one better/more reliable than the other? Heard loads of people have problems with the Quake 8 not firing.

  3. Probably being a fool again, but I can’t reassemble this for the life of me. Seems like a pain to put back together and I can’t align the safety to sit in the correct position.

Below are some pictures on how I think it should be and it feels right, with the selector switches aligned before I put the gb in the lower. But when I insert the gb the switch doesn’t fully rotate from the 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock positions for FA and S.

    Any tips and tricks welcome!

  4. So I’m fairly new to teching, did a fair bit ages ago but only getting back into things.

I’m installing a Perun Hybrid and have got everything semi back together for testing the mosfet. However I’ve noticed when trying to put the gearbox back in that the sector gear is showing through the ambidextrous fire selector hole…

I didn’t actually look at this when the stock gears were on but assume this can’t be right?! Anyone seen this before?

    Thanks in advance!

I used to own a 6209. Used the quake 8.

Dynatex any day of the week. They are built better, used by military for training and just keep going. The quakes are a clone of the alphatec hex (which was utter garbage) and had loads of drama around it. Mind you when didn't alpha one have drama around it.

Yeah heard dyantex are used for police training and the build just looks more robust. Seen the quake 8 after use and it looks a bit beaten up!

Ohsiboom BFG could be an alternative instead of Quake 8 to be honest.

Have seen these as well, with the multi-shot base looks pretty similar. Not sure what’s better between the two.

Got tired of A. having to go retrieve it during a game and B. worrying about someone else picking it up.

I have a timed & impact BFG (SWAT VTG and OhShiBoom) but they don't see much use honestly, the impact sees more use simply because it's an impact and catches people off guard. I mostly use paper pyro like Mk5/7 Thunderflashes, EG67s etc. which lets me just throw pyro then carry on as normal. This just means at the start of a game i'm carrying what someone once called a concerning amount of pyro. I have a dangler/scrote pouch on my chest rig that is literally just filled with pyro.

Ahh gotcha, thanks for the replies! Mine hasn’t seen much use yet but already worried about someone else grabbing it. Paper pyro does seem a lot easier.

Quake 8-way can carry 7x .209 primers in each grenade so you don't have to reload each time. You simply twist the base to each numbered slot and twist to the safe position when finished with it. When I had one I never had an issue with it not going off. Can't speak for the Dynatex offering but given how they're pretty much the same price when new, I know which i'd go for.

If I remember rightly, they also sell spares for the Quake grenades just in case anything breaks.

How come you got rid of it? What do you use now?

  8. Hi! Just looking at comparisons between the Dynatex 6209 and the Quake 8, can’t find anything online.

I know the quake 8 has one more shot than the 6209, but I’ve heard it’s larger, heavier and less reliable?

Anyone used both and can give some advice?
