Insane! Are these the 3d printed ring cap examples? If so, what model - they look great.
No I don't use the caps they suck, these use 209'sInsane! Are these the 3d printed ring cap examples? If so, what model - they look great.
Are they impact or timed? How much are you selling them for?
Impact, £25
Damn that looks epic!I bought an unfinished Remington M700 laminate stock because I thought it looked really cool, with the intention of putting a TM VSR in it. It was WAY more hard work than I thought, but I got it done after 6 months of work. I'm not particularly fond of (or skilled) with woodwork, but apparently I can pull it off (or rather bodge it till it works) if I I really want the end result! Lovely Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil finish, which was easily 50% of the work to get it nice. I remember getting the VSR bedded in, upgraded to the max... and then started on the finishing. Oh my god was I in for a nasty surprise whe I realised how much work it was going to take... weeks of layering oil and letting it dry (or whatever the technical term is). Two months final drying time... then going up through a million grades of 3M "MicroMesh", which was crazy expensive. All the while trying to not rub through the finish and having to start over in one patch. Worth it though! It looks better in the photos than in person, I didn't get it immaculate, but hey. It's a workhorse.
Perhaps I'm too harsh on myself, I did go on to refret and refinish a £700 guitar with holographic sparkle powder I bought of some ridiculously shady guy on the internet... I reckon it was some "secret sauce" kinda thing that car finishers use. It was chemical resistant to allow use with nasty chemical clear coats (the hideous 2-pac ones with isocyanates that literally give you COPD in short order without an air fed respirator rig). I paid something like £90 for a tiny little bag, which I still have 15 years later. If I didn't know better, I'd assume it was some sort of illicit substance stolen from magical creatures! To be fair, the guitar did look absolutely stunning under stage lighting, it was well worth it. Very Matt Bellamy! I got given the guitar for free... it had the headstock smashed off, and the frets had been played to death in the 20 years it was someone's pride and joy. One hell of a learning curve though, and I completely screwed up the refret before starting over.
The rifle has a few "oops" holes filled in of course... I did most of the bedding in freehand (and magazine well... which was hellishly difficult) with a frightening looking Dremel bit, which was a marginally safer (and less kickback prone) version of a router bit. Turned out nice, always gets some compliments for looking neat, as really nice real steel parts tend to. That's my go-to modification as a film armourer: swap as many parts for really plush looking real steel bits, and add some wear/weathering! The sling mounts allow a bipod to be attached too, which I remember being wildly expensive... I bet you can get them for £25 these days!
(I'm also blown away by how amazing my old Canon 400D was... I'm so used to taking photos on my phone, and they're ok... but nothing compared to even a budget DSLR!)
