I recently got a Classic Army DT4 (the double barrel M4), and I want to increase its range a bit
Right now it's doing 0.99j and just about able to lift a 0.25g BB with the hop up maxed out.

I'd like it to be able to use (up to)0.28g as I play at a woodland site.
I know I need to change the hop up, but if I wanted to increase the power as well (to around 1.1j) would the motor need changing to accommodate the higher power 2 stronger springs?

Afaik the stock motor has 23k rpm

The motor might not need to be changed, but it would probably be a good idea to replace it with one with more torque; maybe have a look at a decent brushless one.

I wouldn't touch the gearbox for now.
Get a better bucking, and clean the barrel before doing anything else.

With a fresh hop, you'll likely find you're able to lift medium-weight ammo easily, and an in improvement in air seal will naturally give you a boost in power.
You're already at 1J, so deliberately going solely for an increase won't have much of a noticeable effect, and may put you over the limit with an improved seal.

I'd recommend trying either a maple leaf super macaron, or The new SniperMechanics/Negative Airsoft flamingo buckings and go from there.
