  • Evri decided it'd be a great idea to just leave my parcel hanging out of my letterbox. On a busy street. Just down from a rough part of town.

Thanks, Evri. Within 30 mins of you "delivering" it, somebody has walked by and nicked it.

For it to be sticking out of your letter box isn't even proof of delivery to you. At best, it's proof that they had left it carelessly in plain sight of the public.

Friend's car died, so guess I'm taking a break from airsoft for now. Unless anyone is in the Brighton area and has a space in their car? ?

On the plus side, I have at least started learning to drive myself, so in a few months I should be good(?)

I've done the thing. I've got to the point where I don't think there are any more guns I want, unless I can get my hands on a Tanaka m24 (unlikely). Items that I might still get are a set of load-bearing kit in tan and maybe a helmet to go with my desert marpat and maybe more scopes if I feel like it, but I'm largely done.

Will post my last(?) gun purchase when I get it tomorrow ;)

You say that, but I have... um... 29 guns, not including pistols. With pistols it's 41 total.

And I use about 15 of them of them including pistols. The rest are packed away :P

    Have a word with yourself...

While you're doing that, we'll form an orderly queue to give you a slap.

I'm going to scream. I may have found the issue with the MTW 308 and its inconsistent hop after struggling with numerous hop setups over the course of about 2 months now. The foam baffles in the Silverback DTSS suppressor on it looks a bit warped; it's not warped so much as to completely block the BB, but it could definitely interfere with the flight path.

If this is the issue and it works flawlessly next game day with a different suppressor that has flawless baffles and a totally unobstructed flight path, I will be simultaneously overjoyed and also incredibly annoyed...

Or run it without a suppressor?

@ButcherBill It's very... snappy without a suppressor, which gets rid of the main reason I have it. I have plenty of suppressors, and the one I've put on it now is one I've been using with my m700s for years now and it's always been flawless.

Also the flash hider it comes with is that disgusting American orange ?

    Just AEG it, m8.

Just installed a Tridos TDC for the first time on a VSR and it isn't as idiot-proof as people say. I did everything right and the hole was off-centre. Widened it, so it's not the end of the world as the screw screws into the hop unit, not the hole you drill that it just needs to fit through, but still...

Booked a redelivery with Royal Mail to deliver to my local post office for today. I'm in the house when they shove another red slip through my letterbox instead without knocking.

No doorbell?  I've known RM staff to not knock if there's no doorbell lol

Nope, no doorbell, but there is a very obvious knocker (teehee) in the middle of the door!

It does amaze me how couriers think they can still get away with this sort of thing considering the prevalence of CCTV, video doorbells etc.  No Mr. DHL, a delivery driver did in fact not make a delivery attempt at 11:47 today.  No one knocked on the door all day...

I know I probably posted this last time, but I'm always amazed at Japanese efficiency. Ordered a barrel from Orga on Saturday and it just arrived today, all the way from Japan!

I just went and spent way too much money on short MWS mags and hi-capa parts, but now my "list of things I want" only contains the MTW and a winter ghillie setup.

But I'm starting a new job with a hefty pay rise, so it's okay, right?

    It’s okay, it’s only money.?

Well, that's officially me unable to play airsoft for the time being. Got my prescription for blood thinners today and it's a 12 week prescription, so that's how long I'll be out of it. Time to tweak guns, run drills and practice my long distance archery on the range :D

Unless you’re on an extremely high dose it should be fine. I was on them for 18 months and had no problems and I take aspirin every day as well.

Shame in the short term, but damn good news that you'll be well in the long term.  Can't beat investing in your health.

    Good luck with it all!

@novioman I did consider continuing, but my doctor said in no uncertain terms to avoid contact sports. Honestly, the big thing that warned me against playing is that Worthing Airsoft, my local site, is absolutely covered in brambles and holly bushes, so I'm more worried about the vegetation cutting me open than the airsoft itself! :D

I have spent way too much on Aliexpress this week...

@Lozart Yep. £91 including tax was a good price point and it did everything I needed for it to do on the gun it's going on.

It's a real stinker when you get to the checkout and get suddenly slapped with our 20% tax and your order jumps up all of a sudden ?

@pyromancer6 I've always wondered how much of that 20% actually gets paid to the UK government!

Is Dogtag any good for bolt actions? Heading over this weekend, but heard that a lot of areas they play in are sub 30m engagements all around.

Depends on the areas and the game modes, much like Worthing. You can make it work in the right circumstances, but there is a lot of rapid advancing and cover in small areas that makes either a DMR or a 1J no MED a better option. They do also tend to play a trench game in the afternoon which is also going to give very limited opportunities for a bolt gun.

I tend to find running the MP5 works better at that site for me. By all means take a boltie, but maybe plan to be able to swap out if you find it's not working.

I've been to Dogtag loads of times and every time they've started with the same hold the line, attack and defend game. Defenders get one life and then have to retreat to the next point, with the attackers respawn being immediately behind the players furthest at the back. It's a good way to get warmed up, as on either team you don't have far to go after being hit. As mentioned, it is fast paced and target rich. I had a friend use his Boltie and he had a great laugh when he dug in and let the attackers advance past him, before picking them off with a pistol. The afternoon trench game is great fun, but again you'll likely want something which will allow you to burn through a few more BB's.

Dogtags my regular, bolt actions are good fun there. Back when I had one I never had an issue with any part we played, theres always engagements over 30m. (obviously their cqb village is a bit tricky but they only tend to use it at the end of the day). Definite worth bringing a boltie but as above, bring something you can fling bbs with too!

Super impressed by Orga and Japanese post. Ordered something like... a week ago, it was sent on the 6th and Parcelforce already attempted to deliver it yesterday (10th).

And by attempt to deliver, I mean they shoved a card through my door without knocking. Getting them to redeliver it to my local post office so I'll have my VSR widebore barrel ready for this Sunday's skirmish!

If my own experience is anything to go by, the larger part of the journey was probably through the bowels of the Post Office system!

Imagine if you order in December ?

Ordering from Evike Europe, items from USA warehouse, took 1 month to arrive.

Ordering from Evike US, already got the standard UPS paperwork through that I always get from Evike, filled them in and sent back. I think I'm going to have the items next week, so that would be just over a week to arrive.

    Excuse me? ?

Customs have my parcel, I've filled out all the paperwork and there's no RIF in it... So why do I still feel so anxious? ?

Ah, I see.  Will keep that in mind for any future purchases from Evike.

    Good luck with yours ?

Its cos they insist in using UPS for deliveries....

    ak2m4
    ak2m4
UPS?  They can't be bothered to read the HS code / product description or I wonder if they even bother to scan, so they just make you sign a form to cover their own ass whenever there's a hint of airsoft.  RIF or no RIF.

Don't mind so much but surely they could create an electronic form that's linked to your tracking number than you can fill out.

Probable atrial fibrillation means I can't play too hard this weekend, so now I have an excuse to be a bush wookiee. However, also gives me an opportunity to have a bit of a tuning day so the Tanaka m700 is coming out as well as the KJW one so I can tune them both!

Might take a pass at trying to persuade the staff at my local site to allow DMRs to have a 20m MED instead of 30m (1.64J is the power limit). Wish me luck :P

Offer to take a dozen shots, from your gun, at a measured 20m, to the groin and face.

This is a quite serious suggestion, by the way.  It's the standard that should be applied to any "But it's safe when I'm sending it against someone else!" argument.

@Rogerborg See, I wouldn't mind that; very much a fan of practicing what I preach, but I started airsoft in a time where we were full-auto-ing each other up close with slightly hot guns (because the chinese clone guns came out of the box too strong and nobody chrono'd back in the mid 00s). I'd even be happy to take it at 1.88J if it meant bringing the power up to that too, but that will never happen at my local site because I think one of the owners hates DMRs and is perfectly fine with literally nobody using one at Worthing.

    Rogerborg
    Rogerborg
Understandable, I hate them too. They're essentially unpolicable and super-exploitable if you trigger spam them.

That said, I have one, and don't exploit it, but if I ran a site, I'd just blanket ban them like a few sites already do.

Had all my gats out earlier, so I finally fixed the leak on the VSR (one of the o-rings in the engine wasn't in place) and sent my TM m21 to High Pressure Airsoft to get the alignment/feeding issue sorted once and for all. With that, all of my guns should be in perfect working order as soon as the TM m21 is sorted and sent back.

Finally got around to sorting my leaky mk23 mags. They were sitting around doing nothing, so I tried my hand; best case I fix them, worst case they stay broken. Filled the pressure valve with epoxy (stupid design!) and replaced the o-rings with silicone gasket and I am now back up to 5 mk23 mags as they're gas tight again! :D

Playing in pitch black tunnels in total silence with earmors amplifying all the ambient noise... Really showed me how squeaky my current sniper belt setup is. Going to be revisiting that configuration so I don't feel like a walking megaphone (it's not that loud, but with the earmors all I heard all day was my kit squeaking!)
