I saw some on EVIKE.com. I didn't think the USA Evike shipped to the UK?
I had a look at the site, but to be honest, if I'm that stuck on compatibility, I'll usually either ask here or get AI to scour Reddit. Between those two, I can normally find the answer I'm looking for.
It also looks like the database started off completely blank. If I were building something like this, I'd have populated it with as much existing compatibility data as possible before launching, rather than relying entirely on users to help build it from scratch. Dont get me wrong, being able to slap " is XXX mag compatible with XXX RIF " would be great but theres no way you can cover the entire airsoft infrastructure even with users building it for you.
Another thing I'd be wondering about is how the information is vetted. What's stopping someone from creating an account and saying CYMA MP5 magazines fit a Tokyo Marui NGRS MP5SD6, or that an MP7 AEG magazine fits an MP7 GBB? Is every submission manually reviewed before it goes live? If so, why isn't the vetting person the one building the database? Otherwise, the database could become unreliable pretty quickly. Are other users meant to police this? Are they meant to scour all of the listings and fact check it?
It also seems like a huge amount of ongoing work. Someone has to fact-check submissions, add new products, upload images, keep pricing current, moderate the site, and maintain everything as new releases come out. Like "take up all of your free time for very little reward" kinda work. Not just that the scope of all airsoft rifs, parts, mags, and accessories is massive and theres no way your going to get everything. I mean imagine getting a full catalogue of hop rubbers, in all softness levels, and the pricing for them, then nubs, barrels, hop units, nozzles etc. There must be thousands upon thousands of them.
I'm guessing the revenue model is through affiliate links to retailers. If so, is that already set up? I imagine some retailers might not be keen if you're effectively advertising them without an established affiliate relationship. Also if that was the case you are currently giving it to them for free, they will just let you carry on doing that lol. Like Austeyr mentioned, are these updated automatically or does someone have to manually check pricing and update accordingly?
One final bit of feedback: I'd avoid making your first pitch AI-generated. It immediately reads like it was written from a prompt rather than by the person behind the project, and first impressions matter. A genuine, manually written introduction would come across as much more authentic. Makes me wonder how much of the website is AI-generated. Take a page out of Atomic Airsoft's intro yesterday, genuine and not AI generated. they have been interacting with users and getting involved in the community. Thats how to do it
Thats my two cents, Regulator out!
