V2 Gearbox Issue New (Second Hand Gun)

I'd thought the Predator would have had the 25k Orange Ifrit motor

than the shit grey 18k ferrite motor

but the standard of work & craftmanship leaves me lost for words...

yup - I see the fragile ETU mosfet unit just behind the welded motor

I'm guessing the red/posi 2.8mm connector snapped off or broke at the bend

so little Timmy thought he would get his mate to weld the wire back on

(rather than fit new connector)

I'll guess he didn't want to fuck up the better motor that was in Predator

so then used cheap shitty motor from say a Combat Machine Raider or something

I'd lay money there is nice unwelded Ifrit motor kept back by seller...

Green nozzle - fuck knows where from, maybe some cheap unbranded OEM thingy, that was perhaps a bit to snug in G&G hop unit - even some red SHS nozzles can be a tiny bit snug in a brand new G&G hop unit...

(Other times they move smoothly - maybe minor variations in batches or if they have been "run in" or any minor burr polished out after a few thousand rounds)

I'll guess the nozzle is a bit snug & where the box was refitted, the stock tightened up, tilted box upwards slightly at front. Which then caused the nozzle to rub more at top of hop unit inside - thus the nozzle doesn't fly back n forth smoothly but snags instead

Wanker tech, not for making these errors - we have all had grief

and we are still dropping the ball at times with shitty toy guns

But they are a WANKER for palming it off onto others

Than fix the fucking thing properly

If they did it correctly, they probably would keep it

But nope fuck up the "upgrades" (semi wanker)

Couldn't or couldn't be arsed to fix it (lazy wanker)

Then offload it onto somebody else (fucking wanker)

don't blame the student, blame the teacher :D
You're/you are/yaw right.

I do blame my teachers.they should have made me listen mou're/more/maw.

Oh well I shall just have to be a lowly astro physicist/banjo designer for ever now....??

Regards

Goddamn thats some sketchy teching. I mean jesus does the guy not have any pride in his work?

I feel for you man i really do. This is why i really endorse folks to learn it themselves because then things like this are less of a risk to deal with when you can fix it yourself properly.

By the sounds of what your site tech is saying he's talking the right language (identifying lack of spring on hop unit for example) so maybe he can get it sorted?

Man this thread just ruined my day.

I say open a PP dispute, NOW.

send him the gun back and let PP handle everything else, I mean that is a shit job done by a retard.

I have opened a claim waiting on pp now the lad literally said to me just take it up with PayPal

Fingers crossed.

Its not unfixable; cylinder, nozzle, some random o rings and a rewire at least, but more a question of if its worth the time/effort/money to you.

I've seen some pretty shoddy things done (and done shoddy things myself) but that is definately up there on a par with the ol' hole drilled in the cylinder as an fps downgrade....

I might suggest for the benefit of future buyers when the outcome is settled to leave a link to this thread in the feedback so folks can make an informed decision on what they might be buying.

Yeah I will I nearly bought a jw3 pistol of him also  glad I didn't. Just gutted as the build spec sounded mega and could have been a good deal  but wasn't

Well - lesson learnt as they say, good luck with your dispute

Now you know better, run stuff past us on here first perhaps

(it's fine - there's fuck all goin on atm & we are locked down etc...)

buy new crap to break yourself than somebody elses broken shite

ps don't bother with the pistol, buy the FUCKING PENCIL instead...

Sorry to say it but going on the seller's replies and don't give a crap attitude, you've been scammed. Good luck with the pp claim.

That's what my impressions is PayPal. Have told me just return it under distant buyers or somethibf along them lines

Just a update PayPal refunded me 60 and I kept the gun stripped it down the internals where a joke

Stick gears mixed with Shs gears

A washer glued under the trigger to make it a shirt stroke

Piston had 0 air seal in the cinder moving it fast or slow and had a chunk missing out of the top

Bushes battered

Now back together with a cyma v2 box with the m160 motor and firing sweet

Super lucky escape if Paypal have refunded you. Many on here pay by F&F and get shafted.

Never ever pay f&f learnt years ago with a turbo and lost over 1k

There is a reason to mis-match gears, but i have a distinct feeling this guy wasnt going through several different combinations to acheive minimal backlash and smooth meshing.

Also a washer? Whats wrong with tapping the shell for a grub screw?

That piston head i suspect is the culprit for the air seal, looks like yhe one i had where the inner surface was rough and it wouldnt form a seal with the o-ring.

Is that an Ares gearbox with the EFCS ECU bollox ???

I thought the box was an APS or did the bloke fit an Ares magnetic thingy in there

or is the box an ares v2 - I dunno, a right pile of confusion going on as to wtf it all is

if so the sector has a magnet to detect its position & stuff

so you had to (of a sort), keep the Ares sector

which the 18:1 & 16:1 sectors are same

thus the bloke plopped in a SHS 16:1 spur

and "likely" kept the CA sector with the magnet in one of the holes

The washer behind piston was to likely correct AoE a bit more

as the silent/mushroom piston head & matching cyclinder (if used)

would make it difficult to adjust with sorbo/normal rubber pad

the silent head has a little tiny squish to it anyway - so adds so impact resistance

so bloke probably thought - fuck it just add a slight spacer between piston & PH

to correct AoE - though tbh them piston heads are quite chunky on their own

and I found they seem to PARTIALLY correct AoE anyway

I don't use them as I feel the vents in PH don't allow the o-ring to push out like other PH's

but others use them, they don't muffle quite that much, they offer a tiny bit of impact cushion

(but not a massive amount)

Looks to be a SHS piston & I do not like those pistons...

way too little actual rails for my liking - I like nigh on full solid rails

(especially in "windowed" boxes, just my own personal OCD I guess)

but too little actual rail on those SHS pistons for my liking

even the swiss cheesed pistons...

View attachment 65866

I only like to use them is say a G&G non-windowed box

where box has uninterupted rails so to speak

but that SHS piston...

View attachment 65867

nah not got one, nor do I intend to get one for lack of rails

(soz but absolutely shit way to lighten a piston imho)

Another thing with SHS pistons...

They BIND - quite often in numerous boxes

Except for G&G's, most boxes will need a little sanding to stop SHS pistons binding

especially at full retraction on the last couple of teeth I found

So just something to be aware of

SHS pistons bind in APS...

As I said, some money had been spent on this gun at some point

but think it was assembled by an inexperienced tech or a few bad techs have had a go at it

A good result you getting refunded some money to help fix the issues

some of things I can understand as to perhaps this/that was performed

but above all else palming off a botched gun onto somebody I can not get my head around

good result all round, should finally get the gun you wanted/deserved at last
