Vfc Hk417d AEG Advice

Hi all,

I'm considering getting a VFC HK417D AEG as per the title but I've got a few queries that I can't seem to find answers to so was hoping someone could help.

The newer versions seem to state that they come with a MOSFET but I can't find any details on what kind, is it a basic manufacturer's MOSFET to purely protect trigger contacts? I'm assuming it is and I am planning on replacing it at some point, can anyone recommend a decent MOSFET for it? Not after any fancy pre-cocking, ROF or burst fire features, just a solid reliable MOSFET that will help prevent the motor locking up on semi whilst providing protection for the contacts.

I'll be converting to deans straight away but wanted to know if there is anything I need to be wary of or any other immediate changes that people would recommend? I might not necessarily do it but it would be good to get some input from people with experience with this rif,  I've read mixed reports on internals, the main issue I've seen is people complaining about trigger contacts burning out but these tend to be older posts and I assume that is why VFC now fit the MOSFET as standard. I've also read numerous reports of the gearbox fracturing but these seem to come from foreign markets where they are sold with 400 FPS+, I'm not doing a DMR build so I will be leaving it at sub 350 FPS but is this still something to be concerned about?

The gearbox has a specified trigger unit that is easy to fit MOSFET in. U don't have to open the actual gearbox up . There pretty easy to work on . Had two  gearboxs crack on me but was using as 450fps dmrs . Should be fine for sub 350 thou . If buying new then just use it till it breaks (if it breaks ) then do the work . I hpa mine in the end .

Two of my teammates own/owned VCF 416s - 1 AEG, 2 GBBRs - and all have had expensive issues. Internals are utter shite.

I wouldn't have a VFC rifle if you paid me.

That's good to know, I would be keeping under 350. I tend to run guns until something breaks and then upgrade (other than swapping for Deans) as I tend to buy higher end if I can but it still doesn't stop you getting a lemon.

That doesn't sound good. I was also considering the TM 417 but ruled it out for cost and because I'd prefer a carbine over full size rifle, but I've got a few TMs so I know it would be good. I have heard very mixed things about VFC internals and I've read about expensive nightmares people have had but some people can't seem to rate them highly enough. My only experience is with their MP7 AEG and that's been pretty great so far

To be honest it's Ur preference. If buying new then try it before u buy it for the warranty . Tbh most new guns want some sort of upgrade  . It's down to preference and how Ur running them . I like the417 . Love the 7.62 platform . I chose to hpa it in the end as wanted too as wanted a nice silent dmr .

I would personally go TM but it is horses for courses.

I wouldn't ever recommend VFC; hear regularly how their high-end pistols like the VP9 is a good looking but useless paperweight and that their rifles are similar. In my experience, their rifles, as stated before, are gorgeous looking, but internally suspect potential nightmares.
