Posting airsoft rifle?

Its not just the company but the specific method too

 I’m going to say:

Parcel force 48

AFAIK has to be Parcel Force Express 48.
Don't send it regular RM or you run the risk of it being destroyed.

Parcelforce 48 has been fine in the half a dozen times or do I have posted a RiF.

Just declare it as a low powered airgun for sports.

Parcel force. Royal mail should take them according to their terms but there is always problems.

Now that's really weird. I was posting a RIF the day before yesterday and checked the leaflet that was in the PO - it said you HAVE to send it PF48Express.
However, I just checked the RM website and that's not what it says.
So now I'm confused:

When I go to a Royal Mail post office they always say they can only send it 48h parcel force

The plot thickens...

Just had a chat with our local Postmaster, who's under the impression you can use royal mail.

However, then we looked at the latest leaflet. (May 2018).

Given the wording, I'm still none the wiser...

Clearly states low powered air weapons must be sent with an express 48 hour service which is now known as Parcelforce48.

Long time ago Royal Mail had an express 48 hour service but it was discontinued a few years back.

I used to be a postman so I know how they treat packages, better off using Parcelforce.

The problem is with how it's written.

"Only low powered air weapons are accepted by parcel force worldwide"

That means that PF won't take high powered air weapons.

Had it been written like this, it would mean pf takes them and Rm doesn't.

"Only parcel force worldwide accepts low powered air weapons"

Hence why I'm confused.

There's what it says, what they think it means and what I think it means and then what it actually means.

And now my head hurts...

You can’t use any Royal Mail postage methods, you can use Parcel Force but only Parcel Force 48

Other couriers may or may not be able to accept it, the transporting of goods legislation changed in the last few years.

All rifs are low powered air weapons. Until the go over the joule limit. Then they come under the firearms act.

Erm, I know.....

The item in question wrt the wording could be almost anything - their meaning would still be ambiguous.

Sorry it was posed like a question. Yes it is ambiguous I agree. That was probably written 10 years ago. Parcelforce48 are very reliable as are UPS surprisingly but sod using them without business rates.

You can send low powered air weapons and also section 1 and 2 firearms via royal mail but parcel force will only accept low powered air weapons.

The issue with royal mail is more the size as you can only send a medium parcel and they won`t accept gas containers but then neither do parcelforce.

I've had 2 guns sent to me PF48 and 2 via Hermes.  All arrived ok, though PF seems to be quicker.
