RAVEN EU Series G18 [Nuprol] vs WE G-Series G18c?

Another update...standard WE mags seem to fit if you remove the baseplate...but are tricky to remove without the baseplate to grip.

However....the 50 round long WE mag does not fit! Locked the slide back and forced it in and it eventually locked in place but the slide stuck! Weird..

Re the Raven MEU mag compatibility - Marui 1911 mags fit and work fine in mine!

Seems to me that you’d have to be nuts to save the £10 and buy the nuprol.

Yeah it's a no brainer really to any airsofter with some sense.

It seems that Nuprol have managed to pay their way into good reviews, so most people will take the retailers at their word.

Because no shop ever wants to bad mouth a cheap product which has huuuge profit margin.

We did the same thing at Andertons music.

Stagg make all kinds of absolutely terrible music accessories and instruments. Woeful products.

But we were told to reassure customers that they were great, because they had an absolutely collosal profit margin. We made more selling shitty guitar cables and gig bags than we did Fender and Gibson guitars!

Harley Davidson make way more selling t shirts and tassel bags than they do selling bikes.

Most of the content of the airsoft magazines seem to be adverts disguised as editorial. Pretty shameful sometimes.

Oh and the review I submitted to the retailers website hasn't appeared yet. I thought I was fair enough about the gun in it.

Aye.

I love that the slide is all:

"SHIT! I'm a raven! Get me the hell outta here!"

Haha...that's going to go pop in a big way. £60? Oh my aching sides.  Realistically, £20 for parts max! Another weak point of the crappy Raven on display there. Even on my new barely used one the slide visibly lifts when you bang a mag in due to poor tolerances, more than any I have seen before.

Never seen anything like that due to wear on a metal gbb....only an old plastic slide G34 came near that...

I have just received a Raven eu18 as the WE I had ordered was out of stock and they weren’t sure when they would be getting any more. I did however get a £20 refund as the Raven is a bit cheaper. It is definitely not WE compatible but the full auto is fun I’ve not had any problems with accuracy but the mag it came with does require a hard whack and even then it may drop out or decide it’s empty after only a few shots. So I went to my regular Airsoft shop and spoke with the owner and he sold me his last 2 gas mags for my Raven and they are fine. He did say that if using the full auto then I would be better off using CO2 mags as the power is more consistent than with the gas mags that tend to reduce in power as they run low on gas. He said he’d order me some in so I could see the difference. Otherwise I’m quite happy with the pistol as a backup weapon.

Ravens are crap fullstop, had two EU18’s now as the first one went back. By all means do not buy the CO2 mags made for this gun as it just kills them even on single fire. Had my first one break the slide and now the 2nd ones done exactly the same. Shit quality compared to the WE tech as I now have one been using it happily with no issues but stay well clear away from raven products as there build quality and the materials they use are such poor quality!

For the extra cash buy WE every time not worth the risk.

Raven is a rebranding of Nuprol (which is a rebranding of the cheapest stuff they can find), which is all I need to know to avoid them like the plague.

What are you clowns going on about? We 50 round mags DO fit the Raven eu17/18 but require two minor modifications. That's all. I made mine fit long before Raven (Nuprol) even made a 50 round mag for them. I get so sick of people who have no practical or engineering skills or understanding coming out with nonsense based on their inability to comprehend the mechanics of the very guns they supposedly know so much about. Pffft...

First, you have to file the location tabs on the back of the magazine off flush. This sorts the jamming problem. Secondly, you'll notice that with the magazine now inserted and empty, the slide lock doesn't engage. This is because the steel tab on the slide lock that interacts inside the gun with the magazines bb follower requires some subtle bending down towards the magwell. Bend it in steps and adjust to taste. Once you're getting proper contact, the slide catch will work as normal. That's it.

Yeah, the guns are cheap and cheerful but like any gbb they might need a bit of work. I replace most outer barrels on We guns (p226, g10cks, 1911s) anyway as a matter of course as they are cheap cast metal and WILL eventually fail. But that's pretty much all. Better to replaced one part than the whole blooming gun! (I'm looking at you, TM) And yeah, the EU17/18s don't have the trigger lock back mechanism but who cares, neither did the HFC Dark Hawks of yesteryear. But if you get and fit the right parts, it'll work. You just have to know what you're doing, which I'm ashamed to say is a rare thing in Airsoft these days.
