Hello Alan,
All done and good to go !
Quite a bit to go through, so breaks down as follows:
MOTOR
Re-Wind inc New Comm, Service & Latest Mods has been carried out.
GEARBOX
This has been stripped, cleaned, inspected and serviced.
The Gearbox is in excellent condition.
Mods have been carried out, then rebuilt and lightly greased with Tamita Cera-Grease HG.
ELECTRONICS
Moisture Proofing has been carried out.
In addition I found the the EL-004 Control Cable had been damaged and two of the four wires severed.
This meant the PTW was effectively dead an nonfunctioning.
The damage would have been caused by careless removal - or attempt at - of the Buffer Tube. Turning the Tube without moving the Wiring forward mean the Tube sliced into the Wires.
The damaged EL-004 has been replaced with a new item.
Lately I have replaced the Deans Connector with a better quality item that has stronger tension plates on the terminals.
INNER BARREL/HOP ASSEMBLY
This has been serviced and Hop Mod carried out.
The Hop is set roughly where it need to be, you just need to fine tune it.
CYLINDERS
Black M90 Systema Cylinder.
This has been stripped, cleaned and inspected. Then Service & Upgrade/Tune carried out.
This Cylinder has been set for 350fps, or as close to.
Gold M90 Clone Cylinder.
This has been stripped, cleaned and inspected. Then Service & Upgrade/Tune carried out.
Also being a Clone I completely stripped it down as these are never assembled correctly at source, as in nothing is “loctited” !
This Cylinder has been set for 328fps (1J), or as close to.
In both cases the “tune” includes" a set of four 2.5mm Spacers. These Spacers are fitted to the Spring Guide, which is part of the rear Cap.
To adjust Muzzle Velocity add or remove the Spacers as required.
As it is the Systema Cylinder has three fitted to achieve its Muzzle Velocity, and the gold Clone has two fitted.
The unused Spacers are in two small bags.
Note: Do not exceed four Spacers in a Cylinder. Also do not put spacers inside the Piston.
Lastly the old Spacers I removed form these Cylinders, do not use.
UPPER
This was found to incorrectly assembled with the Outer Barrel loose and flopping around.
The Barrel Nut was not correctly tightened.
The Upper was stripped down, then a shim added to the Barrel Nut. The Nut was then torqued to the required tightness, thus properly securing the Outer Barrel.
The Handguard was then refitted, and the missing the Muzzle Brake Spacer supplied and fitted with the Muzzle Brake correctly installed.
LOWER
Issues here were the Buffer Tube Nut not sufficiently tight, and the Cap not correctly shimmed.
Also the Rear Take Down Pin holes in the Lower & Upper were not correctly aligned.
As this is a factory Lower it seems the reason for this is it not the original Upper Receiver, otherwise the rear holes would be aligned.
The result of this is the Take Down Pin was not a smooth sliding fit, and had to be forced in and out. So much so that excessive force had been applied to the Take Down Pin to push it out.
The result of this was the Stopper Pin was bent out of shape, and the Receiver damaged around the Pin hole.
Removing the bent Stopper Pin was, er, challenging !
Once out I could re-shape the Receiver back to where it should be.
As the Take Down Pin & Stopper Pin had been damaged I have replaced them with new items.
The Rear Take Down Pin holes have been read and correctly aligned.
The Pin now pushes in and out smoothly with only finger pressure required.
The Bolt Stop Mod has been carried out.
This ensure the Bolt Stop does not suffer from creep under use which results in the it working into the off position.
OVERALL
The PTW now functions nicely with rock solid Upper, and zero play between Receivers.
MAGAZINES
I have gone through these and checked them, cleaned the Feed Mouths, and carried out tweeks.
Three of them are the very early Light Grey cased type.
These have fairy soft springs, so do not exceed 0.25g BB’s.
The four with the Magpuls seem to be the newest and have the strongest Springs.
The rest are seemingly all HW’s as well.
The “sticking” one has been completely stripped.
Most likely the reason for it sticking was it had been over crammed with BB’s.
It now functions smoothly.
The last one was completely jammed.
Turned out a Feed Lip had got forced inside and was jamming the BB’s.
This Magazine was beyond repair as the damage to the Inner Cassette means the Feed Lip can no longer hold itself in situ.
As such it is has been left partially dismantled and can used for spares (just not the Cassette casings).
