swiftnbold
Folks I'm orgainising a weekend patrol challenge that will combine elements of a Sniper/Close Target Recce exercise. This will test your ability to work as part of a two man sniper team The aim is to navigate from a start position to set locations and retrieve and desypher a coded word at that location (for 3 points) or observe something at that site (for 1 point). Those who just want to stay static and amubush could not win - likewise those who treat this as skirmish game will be minus that many points they will not win. There will also be a test of marksmanship after 24 hours in the field. Other initial info: The Hope House Patrol Challenge A patrol competition made up of six 2 man teams Date is the 7th & 8th of July 2012. The location is 200 acres at The Ex-Site in Mold North Wales The competition starts at 11:00 Saturday and runs to 15:00 Sunday you are "in game" throughout. Teams should arrive at 08:00 and be ready to deploy at 10:00 - giving each team 1 hour to get to their start position (this will be organised with numerous insertion points so that you can’t just watch a team walk into their position) A player can carry a bolt action rifle (limited 500fps) 40 rounds max + pistol (350fps) 1 magazine - OR - An AEG (max 350 fps or locked semi 400 fps) with low/mid cap magazine and maximum 90 rounds – + pistol (350fps) 1 magazine no loose ammo to be carried Teams will be organised as 1 designated sniper (bolt action) 1 designated spotter (AEG or bolt) they may swap roles during the competition but for the marksmanship test they will go back to their designated role. You will need at least 1 radio per team and there will be general/safety channel Each team will navigate to various nav points locations where a man-made object and a laminated code word will be placed. Teams will make the call whether to record the object (1 point) or move close and record the word (3 points). There will be at least 10 nav points/objects meaning that on some points you'll be the only team going for it - other may have a couple of teams going for it. Great thing is you just won’t know. As the teams come in at End-Ex there will be a marksmanship test for main rifle and sidearm (for those with bolt action rifles) the more rounds you have left means you’ll have a couple of shots to check zero before the shooting test which will add a few more points to your tally. If you are hit your team mate can medic you once, however if a team are hit or the same player is hit twice the team MUST leave the game and return to the competition control. They will then move that team to a set re-insertion point – this will eat up an hour or two of potential game time as it won’t be a straightforward walk out /walk back in. I’m working on a kit list that must be carried by all teams as a minimum. No night vision equipment and night engagement rules will be pistol use only No pyrotechnics If you are part of a team that want to compete together then great – if you’re a solo player we’ll pair you up by drawing lots and giving you a bit of time to discuss kit carried and tactics before you take to the field. Competition Cost £70 per player including a donation to Hope House Hospice who I have named the challenge after and is the sites charity. A £30 deposit secures your place. There won’t be an individual winning team as all teams will be graded Gold – Silver – Bronze based on the points they score and awarded a medal each and certificate of taking part. Individual players or team mates should contact me through PM to express an interest
