hprentice
I am in that stage where i am looking for a new gun, and i had a few questions about the L85 (i'm sure ed can help ). firstly, how do you fit an acog sight on it, i have heard that they have a specific top rail, is there a conversion kit? secondly, what is a good brand to get? i am looking for something with high fps, that will last, preferably full metal. the third question is where can i buy the UGL? i really love the look of them and was wondering where i can get one. i have asked this last one before, but ill ask again haha can the UGL be removed from that awesome hand guard it comes with. before people said no, but i have looked at it and it looks as if its a few alan key screws holding it in. maybe with a hacksaw and some alan keys i could do it the image is how i would like it to look
Bottledtorment
Acog-Yes , with the conversion kit Brand- If you have cash go for ICS , They last really well. If not get a G&G UGL - Most likely can be removed not sure Source: Talking to ED and looking into it
Hubert
For mounting an ACOG, you have 3 options. 1) - The version actually used - the TA31 lever mount ( http://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/shop/airsoft-accessories/sa80-acog-riser/ ) This fits on to the standard 19mm dovetail rail fitted to the L85. 2) - Planned 20mm rail adaptor (designed by B&T - used under the FIST SA80 project). It's not technically correct for an ACOG, but is used on L85s. Most useful, most versatile - gives you options for plenty of bolt ons. Slides over the 19mm rail. ( http://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/shop/airsoft-accessories/spectre-dr-scope-riser-mount-for-we-l85sa80/ ) 3) - ICS make a replacement rail. The 19mm rail is unscrewed, and the 20mm rail takes its place. This is a fictional design by ICS. It's also the least useful, ( http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ics-l85l86-m1913-21mm-tactical-rail ) Brands - ICS is the most reliable and easy to work on - but, is the least accurate and has the least range. Uses a mix of standard and ICS-L85 only parts, so upgrades/modifications can be "interesting". G&G has better range and accuracy - but suffers from some reliability issues. Standard parts. G&G have amazing customer service. UGL -It only fits to ARES/Star. No idea on if it can be taken out. But - the mount is actually part of the launcher, so you may have problems fitting the handguard to the L85 without the launcher. You can modify an ICS L85 to fit the UGL, but it's a permanent fix.
