Hi guys,

I really want to start Airsoft with my Dad, I'm 32, he's in his 60's, but as an ex marine when he found out about the sport he instantly fell in love. We tried paintball but I think Airsoft will suit us better.

We have a small issue, our nearest Airsoft venue does not hire equipment, which means we have to buy two-tone until we can get that UKARA business sorted out.

Now, I'm loathe to spend out on a RIF and get it painted up, so want to get a good enough two-tone for now. The thing is, I still want to be able to stand a decent chance in a skirmish. So then you have the question, do I pay out for an expensive gun which I can replace in 3 or 4 games, or get a cheapo just to see me through the registration process....

I really like CQB and defence, so I'm looking at shotties.

My gun of choice to start would be this http://www.proairsoftsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/asg_airsoft_shotgun_franshi_sas_12_full_stock_shell_shotgun.html which I would need painted, from what I can tell it's a pretty decent gun.

My second option is this two tone http://www.geniestuff.co.uk/m58a-400fps-airsoft-shotgun.htm which I have absolutely no clue if it's any good for skirms.

So, in short - should I invest a bit more on a decent gun to start with, and if I do get an expensive gun and get it painted, when I go on the UKARA register can I go over it with camo paint? (I assume I could)

Many thanks for your advice guys, really looking forward to being part of this community.

Recon.

Welcome :)

When you acquire your UKARA defence, you are allowed to paint over your gun to make it black again, or if the gun is black and has been painted over, you could get the paint stripped off to return it to it's original black colour.

Also, the second shotty is too hot to use at a site as most CQB sites only allow a guns up to 320 fps.

You could get an electric machine gun (AEG) at http://www.proairsoftsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/all_guns_combat_machine.html This is a great gun for beginners and is enough to compete with those higher end guns out there on the field. The parts can be ordered for it easily as well, so you could replace the two tone parts with RIF parts once you get on the UKARA register.

You could get yourself an SRC Generation 3 G36C AEG. The pre-coloured ones can have the coloured parts replaced for black ones at minimal cost and they're quite cheap for a decent gun. There's one here.

Out of stock at the moment, but AH usually get stuff in quickly.
