Hey want to buy a E&l ak but the seller wants Payment via bank transfer should I just say no to it, have asked would he do it through PayPal? But no response yet.

So my question is what payment methods do you use or am I just getting scammed

I wouldn't ever pay for anything via bank transfer unless I know and trust the seller. You have no way of getting your money back if it goes tits up. The same goes for PayPal friends and family.

Do you have a link to the advert?

im like 90% it’s a scam now, and on the used airsoft site. want to buy this Ak but then a few hours ago a different person posted a different gun with the same background and different email so it might be just friends, but I think it’s a scam now.

The Ak I want to buy https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s...elaks74n-2-0-essential-aeg-airsoft-gun_i93452

A different seller with the same background

I agree those ads are more fishy than billingsgate market. They don't just have the same backgrounds but they're also both selling the same guilie suit despite one being in Huddersfield and the other in essex.

Personally I'd not use that site at all. It's rife with scammers and the admin don't give a fuck

Thanks all the points you said are the reason why I’m sure it’s a scam, this would be my second time buying a used gun so still new to this. honest question if he does come back saying PayPal is fine would you still pass on buying it.

I only buy used kit I have in my hand and tested that it at least cycles now. Had issues receiving boxes containing a brick and newspaper in the past.

If I have hold of it I will bank transfer, PayPal or whatever the seller wants.

Understand this is tough if you live in London and the kit you want is in Manchester but it helps me not buy too much even if I do live in London and I've driven to Coventry/Norwich/Leeds and Bristol to pick up kit I want.

A reverse image search is often useful to to see if the image has been used elsewhere. Personally, I wouldnt buy anything off that site

Adding my voice to the choir, I wouldn't buy used RIFs without testing them in person first. Baser said it pretty much perfectly.

There too many red flags in that MTW listing to be trustworthy. The headline mentions a 7" configuration and the product images seem to match that but the first line of the description mentions 10" then the standard spec mentions 10" and 14". At best, the seller has been lazy copying from a retailer/manufacturer website or using an AI prompt. The orange flash hider is something I'd expect to see on a US airsoft weapon so I question if those images have been used on another site before.

For the MTW, I wouldn't take a chance with your money, never mind my own.

Okay thanks I have started to look for another E&l. Sadly i don’t drive so it’s hard for me to find a Sale local to me. That’s the first thing I noticed it was all copied and pasted from a site I can’t remember . I think the model name is wrong too because I looked it up and got different models and pictures.

I avoid sites like that and stick to forums, ideally people I have dealt with before. I use bank details if I have built up a raptor with the person and trust them. Ironically nearly got stung on some harley parts of FB Marketplace the other month but thankfully transaction didn’t go through.

Just so you are aware if you pay by Paypal and there is a problem you make not get any help from then as they do not take payments for guns of any sort from private sellers. Having said that I have had something turn up broken and seller did get refund, so just be aware.

Always get phone number and address and when checking there defence ask whoever you contact there opinion of them if they know them. If in doubt walk away, even if you really want the item at end of the day its a toy gun.

Thanks for the advice and I’m sorry to hear, sadly I don’t drive so it’s very hard to find want I want locally. I will just stick to buying stuff on this site now and hopefully someone will sell a cheap E&l Ak very soon.

Some retailers do offer payment plans allowing you to pay in smaller interest-free chunks. Have you considered that option?

It's slightly awkward as you'd need a bus or taxi ride when you get off the train from London but there is a boot sale next month in Marks Tey Parish Hall, just outside of Colchester. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing what will be for sale until you're there.
