I think we lack a thread for the more creative and technical side of things like homemade accessories and 3D printing/CAD.

So... what have you made? Or, are making right now? Can be anything from cutting and filing some mask to suit you, to more grandiose projects like making your own ghillie suit, or some 3D CAD model of yet another M4 handguard. Concepts and ideas are cool too if you have something to visualize it.

I guess I'll start:

Made a lightweight outer barrel for an M4 from scratch in fusion360:

Gonna make a lightweight handguard to pair with it and then print them both in a bronze/copper finish. Dramatic weight losses inc.

This one's kind of been abandoned recently as real life has gotten in the way but here's the front end of an M-LOK rail extension for my SCAR H DMR. I got as far as a first test print and starting to redesign it to work out all the problems that brought up but I haven't touched it in months now. The plan is to also design and print a suitably sniper looking replacement for the ugg boot

Last year's stuff

I had a go at making a bladerunner deckard blaster using resin.

I'm soon to do V2 using a DWL kit for a h8r. A more viable option than spending nearly a grand on a delicate and rare HWS deckard blaster replica. Although I still want one.

A working airsoft blunder buss converted from a denix replica. Fired mad bull shotgun shells. Tbh you could convert almost any denix flintlock to fire shells.

And I had a tm uzi that the trigger snapped on, so I grafted the body around a KWC mini uzi to make a GBB uzi.

I've done other stuff last year, I made a semi auto spas 12 shell ejector from a maruzen m1100 and a broken TM, a wrist mounted grenade launcher for about £2.50 but I can't find any photos.

So ye............ Special filaments like silk copper are extremely brittle, significantly more so than regular pla. They're only usable as mechanical parts if the entire thing is thick and solid. The barrel legit just snapped as I was removing the supports.

Oh well. Gonna try again tomorrow.

and 3d printed (left one):

Getting better and smoother with each print. Can't even see the layer lines anymore. Need to sort the vertical artifacts and tighten up the knurling part as it's a bit sloppy.

A couple of Vickers I made for a EH show a few years back

Wow, lovely stuff.  Props, or with shootable internals?

I guess I'll re-shill my Imperial Guard kit since @Musica bumped the Load Out page 30 seconds after I posted it there. :P

The helmet is just a MICH that needs some work. The armour and gun shell (around a G36 with an M4 magwell and short VN style mag) are EVA foam which turns out to be great for LARP airsoft use.

Cheap, easy to work with, light, and takes all the sting out of hits while still giving a distinctive noise and feel that has allayed my initial concerns about accidental God Mode.

What's interesting is just how much of the initial pattern I had to remove in order to make it usable.  Big sections around the arms and neck, and that large side gap isn't accidental, it's to give sufficient movement between the front and back to stop the thing riding up when I bend and twist and shout.  You'll see cosplayers with more complete armour including solid side plates, but they're mostly just posing in it, not moving and aiming.

has neither time nor money(buying house wife expecting+general chaos. maby next year... lol

Proper chortle.  So, after posting my pic (above) to Facebook's Airsoft Heretics group (worth a join), this chap was inspired to make his own Astra Militarum gear in one 40-hour week constructing frenzy.

Have I started something?  After all this blows over, I'm half seriously wondering if it might be possible to put together a squad of the Emperor's faithful at some national event or milsim-lite.

I mean, it is milsim, just from 38,000 years in the future. :D
