Way to drop fps.

I see where you are coming from but it's a case of where do you stop. The rules are a line in the sand so it's fair for everyone. If you turn up to a site with a hot gun then it's your fault so either rent or go home but don't cheat the chrono.

It's sport based on honesty and integrity and that encompasses your whole day not just the bits that suit.
Yeah I empathize with both sides of the argument, I think it's just a case of applying common sense where appropriate.

"Cheating chrono" sounds worse that it is though i think - I shot my KJW KC02 through two separate chronos two times (4 shots total) using HPA (for consistency) at the last site I went to - all the readings were different with FPS ranging from 303 -> 320 - so if the guy's rifle was only reading 5 or 10 FPS above then the same question of "where do you stop" can be asked again, if you chrono it 10 times and it shoots hot 9 times but shoots under limit on the 10th time - does the site just see that as a paying customer who complies with the health and safety rules of the site, and let them play? normally, in my experience - yes.

Nope cheating chrono is exactly what he did. I use rhop or flat hop and can lose 30fps full on, most guns are 10 to 20 so that's not a small amount. Not that the amount matters 1 fps or 50fps over is over.

As someone who runs the chrono I can only tell that it's hard on a personal level, but a line must be drawn. I can't start bending the rules because then the ones who were making the effort to play by them will feel cheated. And when a little cheating has no consequence, then that will happen the next time and the next, resulting that this person will always play with a hot rifle. Then it starts spreading, because if he does it, it's only fair that I do it too. And I don't take all his hits because he is a cheater and he wouldn't have been able to hit me with a proper fps gun, etc.

Yeah agreed - in theory.

What I'm getting at is that in practice this happens quite regularly -  otherwise sites would turn away a lot of money.

I think one problem the sport/game faces is that you can buy a half decent pistol for the same price as a half decent chrono - give that decision to a new player and the thing they spend their cash on is obvious.... then when they turn up to a game day with a hot gun (unknowingly) - it puts the guys who run the site in a tricky situation.

No decent site does this regularly and they would lose a lot more money if caught because they would lose their insurance and then have no business.

It's not a tricky situation at all it's either good to use or not.

A hot gun is a hot gun... I regularly tell people they are not playing if their gun is over. If you know the site limits and your gun is over that tough sh*t. As a marshal wouldn't I run the risk of letting someone pass through letting them play and then something happen. Not worth running the risk on a personal and "professional" level

Hmmm it's alright saying all this but as I said, I know some BIG sites where I've seen this first hand!

Won't name names but we're talking sites with players that regularly exceed 100 players.

I'm not a marshall, my guns aren't hot - personally I don't care, I just thought saying a guy "cheated" a chrono then insulting him for it was harsh.

To be fair maybe could have been worded better but the sentiment is correct, if you are  knowingly doing something wrong even if someone told you its fine its still wrong....

If you know your gun is hot then you adjust it to pass chrono then adjust it back so its hot again to play then what else is it other than cheating chrono?

Anyone who knowingly cheats whether that's hot guns, none hit taking or any of the other well known stuff is being dick simple. Could be the nicest guy ever but at the point you cheat your a dick it's not personal just how it is.

If that is the case I would bring the issue up with the site owners otherwise it'll just carry on and by knowing its wrong and not speaking up some could say that's just as bad...

If you get caught doing 32MPH on a road where the speed limit is 30MPH, you aren't penalized as you're given a leeway of 10%.

It's my opinion that the same should go for site limits but that's a whole different conversation for another thread for another day.

Obviously if someone comes out onto the field firing way over the FPS limit, that's wrong.... But if there's 10% leeway I PERSONALLY would be fine with that.

For example, if you're shot from  let's say 15 or 20 meters away and get hit at 330FPS, sometimes it hurts, soemtimes it doesn't. Get hit at 338FPS, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. The difference is negligible. (let's not get into joules here it's just a loose example)

Get hit at 450FPS from the same distance though and it's probably going to hurt more

obviously muzzle velocity and the speed a bb is going (before the weight of it is even considered) are different but you see my point

It's not the sites that decide that leeway but frequently their insurance companies.

You already have leeway about 350fps on average if you can't get within that then what real difference does 7fps make.
