I wouldn't touch magnums with a barge pole, ever since they moved production to china the quality has dropped while prices continued to rise. My last pair lasted less than 6 months before the paper thin leather split

What about a summer boot ? I'm a fair weather player lol. Ive been wearing my magnums for ages and wear them for basically everything there my everyday boot but starting to fall apart now

I still swear by my AKU Pilgrims year round. Bought them surplus and they're still the most comfortable boot i've ever worn.

They're the mid-height brown version.

I'm pretty sure I had a pair of Viper side-zip boots before (I forget which exactly) and they chafed my feet and ankles so much I had huge blisters after one use and my feet were aching like i'd never felt before. Promptly sold those on.

I have odd sized feet. I buy German surplus boots when I can in 9 and a bit extra narrow. Also 9S British boots (including the dreaded DMS!). Swedish army boots are the best of the bunch though. Soft and comfy, available in many fitments for about £45. Getting them listed accurately re: width is the hardest thing to find.

I also wear Lowa 9N. My original pair are donkeys' years old, used for messy jobs at work, and have outlasted The Lad's Vipers half a decade plus. Honestly the Viper's leather quality was dogshite.

In the last millennium I also wore Magnums even for despatch riding. I wouldn't wear them to sit around the house nowadays.

AKU Pilgrims are my daily footwear for work and cutting around town when it is too cold for walking sandals; however, I find that the heels wear rather rapidly.
