Just been for a quick visit to Lakenheath, came away with two F-15's and a C130 if anyone's interested. Seems they're now guarding the sleeping bags, but not the aircraft ;-)

Where exactly was this posted? I would have expected Suffolk Constabulary to be doing any enquiries off base and the USAF doing all the internal stuff.

Knew some lads who when asked by some yanks back in GW1 said that their T-shirts, with 55 TRG SQN on it meant 55 Terrorist Response Group

For those T-shirts the americans swopped all sorts of kit, camp beds, doss bags etc loads of kit.

Actually meant 55 training sqn, as those boys were straight out the factory

Americans will swap virtually anything for anything, mate of mine got a really nice matt black leatherman EOD for an MTP smock off a US Marine in Afghanistan. Apparently he'd tried one on and really liked the fleece handwarmer pockets.

This post was not fake or a trolled post, the kit was actually stolen.

were taken from building 1068 at the American airbase between 2011 and 2012.

So, quite recent then...

I think I am inclined to go with the view of others here and suggest it is probably an inside job or as also been suggested a result of an audit, especially as the kit went missing between 2011 and 2012.

Must have been a slow news day for the Newmarket News the day they reported this (which was on 14 March 2014).
