UK Beret help

I dunno, every time I see a maroon or green beret on a skinny 17 year old I think to myself... "tosser".

Which is completely irrational I know, I've never earned either of those berets either, and my navy blue one only took 8 weeks to get (you fcking sprog Mike636, get the wets on) but for some reason it still gets me. Not that I'd ever express it to them, they're entirely within their rights to wear whatever the hell they like to airsoft.

It's 10 weeks now! Sprogs making wets is for dabbers! We have had much more civilised "wheel of tea" SMR wets are always the best !

Perhaps, although it does differ from branches for instance, the navy and RAF usually wear blue berets whereas the Soldiers on the ground would have green maroon khaki etc ( Excluding the RAF regiment, i dont know what they have as beret colour etc)

Also i dont know how practical berets are in airsoft, they might slide about and fall off, but if you have it tight it hurts a bit, i personally wouldn't wear one but if your team wants to,go ahead

I didn't know you were part of the WAFU master race, or if I did I had forgotten!

Still a sprog mind.

RAF Regiment where the standard RAF Blue Beret.

Personally, as someone who wears the generic blue beret (Army, however!) on a daily basis I wouldn't take offence to a Beret being worn, and I don't think anyone else would either.

Stable belts and TRF's however, I'm not so sure.

As long as you shape it properly and don't run around with a floppy stores-fresh unshaped one then you won't look like a complete knobber :D

hey, stewards need heroes!

besides, I'm only half a dabber, got a FAA cap tally and everything!

essentially, as long as you don't end up looking like this tool you'll be fine:

If you can't be arsed with shaping, Soldier of fortune do WW2 style ones that have bigger crowns and are worn unshaped.

Ex Merchant Navy crew that served on Arctic Convoys wear the White beret. it's a rare sight at Armistice Day parades.

Do you see Samuel L Jackson and think "pufft I be he never completed his basic training"?

No you don't, you think "Bad Motherlover"

So long as you don't attach any insignia or metalwork to it and wear it properly non one is going to care.

Do you worry the same about imitating servicemens camo patterns?

Good point but then again it's just standard practical wear. Berets I felt are much more personal. My stepdad served with the fusiliers and went mental when I was young and tried his on (for the record he's not a nutter, at far as a stepparent goes anyway lol). It's why I started the post just to ensure I don't get a slap, like Mr Super Army Soldier in the previous post will probably get. At least we have our own badge (my profile pic) so that's a start.

You could be a bit indie and see if you can get your team's logo created in cap badge form? I reckon that'd be pretty cool either in alloys or in plastic

or just fabric with a stiff plastic backer, wouldn't be the first to do it that way.

that said, a beret is a really impractical hat for fighting in so you'd probably be better off with some embroidered caps or similar.

Could get some pink helmet covers made to match the berets? :D
