Both AP & Skirmish are roughly the same distance from me so not a lot of difference in travel time. It's a probably approaching 3 years since I last went to AP but it was a good site back then even on the days when there were 150+ players.
I went to Skirmish last weekend for the 1st time in about 18 months & was very underwhelmed. The safe zone is a decent size but as mentioned by Colin Allen approximately half the available tables are out in the open. The staff were numerous, pleasant & approachable, with the game briefs being (mostly) clear & well explained. However, the game area is pretty basic & the players, while most were honest & decent, I experienced some of the most blatant cheating I've ever encountered.
I hoping to get back to AP in the near future to see how its faring but unlikely to ever return to Skirmish.
