The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Bit faff this one. 

Probably 15-20 years ago I had a warrior assault systems od 901 with built in mag pouches ( similar to the weesatch)and after I got rid of it I had a TAS 901 exactly the same in Cb .. 

Fast forward to the last month or so been looking for another set. Turns out the 901 does not have built in mag pouches 🤔 ( fecking did I had 2 and remembered it listed in shops ) 

Anyway seen this so called tas "vest" on ebay .. so made sure to grab it. Hidden in the small print in a bunch of text was " no belt or straps)..

🤬 it's literally just the front panel lol and to rub salt in all the bungees are perished.

I chopped a barrel down and re-crowned it late Saturday night ready for game day on Sunday and got an almost factory finish using a large centre drill bit to get the crown shape and a chamfer tool to smooth out the chatter marks. Easy as pie and took about 10 mins all in. Filing the notches larger to fit in the hop unit took considerably longer.

I'll snap a pic tomorrow of the crown and bits used. 

You'll need a proper chamfering bit for metal on a stainless barrel, I got away with a wood tool as it was a plated brass barrel.

Sounds encouraging! did you do this with a pillar drill or a hand held drill?

 
With my Sixmm order arriving, the m14 scope mount looks great; will put that away with the TNT hop unit for when I do the WE m14 project...

However, to nobody's surprise, they sent me the wrong bloody springs, so now I need to source some G&G m700 gas router springs for my 6 short magazines that I'm upgrading to (hopefully) be usable. The stock KJW m700 short magazines are awful out of the box, but with the upgraded gas router spring and the upgraded strikers and internals they're supposed to be really good. Got the internals sorted, now just need those springs!

It's not perfect as the chamfer tool is too steep angled to perfectly smooth it all out but it's a bloody good job for 10 mins work and worked really well on the Sunday. With a 4uantum bucking and nub I was getting 60-70m range on .3

Got it before I could. Was going to get it purely so I could have a takedown version in my collection, but I've heard they can have issues when it comes to performance. Keep us posted how it goes!

 
Haha, I've heard a lot about these both good and bad, but I do love a teching challenge.

I may see if I can build it as a non-Takedown version but well see. I'm still stripping it down to clean and grease it. So much gunk, metal shavings, and dirt, but hey that's what I expected tbf.

Bargain price if I get it running well. A few steel aftermarket parts in there as well, including most of the bolt.

That would have been my plan. I asked about the takedown model when one came up for sale before and everyone was saying they're more trouble than they're worth as the takedown fittings wear out 

 
It seems to lock up well ATM but it's pot metal lugs so I don't have huge faith in the long term

I'm the opposite to you two; I would've bought this specifically to have a takedown version, but that's just me as a bit of a collector. For actual usage, the regular m700s are good and the takedown models tend to have loads of issues, so you both have the right ideas there.

I have... essentially 5 m700s at this point, and not one of them is a takedown version 🤣
