The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Ouch ? Hope you can get it replaced and fitted easily.

I took the other half Airsofting for the first time today.

She loved it and got lots of kills. A marshal was playing today, and complimented her on her playing, twice. Once after she shot him in the face. ?

We played a game mode called pilot. 7 downed pilots that have to be captured by one of the two teams. Whoever captures the most wins.
I was a pilot. I dug in under a bush in a ditch.

Nobody could find me. I had people so close I could have reached out and touched them.
Got 4 pistol kills, without giving away my position, before I was eventually found, last pilot to be captured. Very smug ?

Personal kill of the day, pistol kill on a running target while defending bean can fort.

Unfortunately I got so drunk last night I forgot to charge my camera batteries, so I got very little footage of the day ?

But overall a great day, and we have a new convert.

She wants to try sniping.....
Oh yeah not the old camera batts died just as I wiped out a whole battalion! Lol.

My wife is very good at sniping. She has been sniping at me for years lol.

Regards

Not to worry

I am at Airsoft confessional shortly and will be for the rest of the day

That paintball is a mucky bastad thing ?

I just got home from playing airsoft in a swamp (not really, but Worthing Airsoft is on an incline and we played at the bottom today and it was quite swampy and it was a great day all things considered. Played aggressive, played hard, but the main reason it was good is I managed to play the whole day. Now, that might seem like a weirdly low bar for a young'n like me, but two things:

1. I missed last game day because I was ill, so I've had a month of eating baaaaaaaadly with very little exercise (I am a notoriously bad stress eater and unemployment + sickness wasn't a nice combo)

2. I was running my full "weight loss" setup to try and counteract the weight I've put back on over the past few months.

The weight loss loadout worked. I could really feel it and now I'm totally knackered; plate carrier with 4kg weighted plates in it (so 8kg because 2 plates), all my mags and spare ammo and stuff in pouches and a backpack with more gas (GBBRs use a lot) and water to drink. It was a really heavy loadout, but I'm so happy that it was as it's exactly what I was going for. Was running around with the my TM AKM GBBR and it was firing fantastically. Need to bed the hop up rubber in a bit as it was the first time out with it, but it was shooting really nicely if a little inconsistently, though I imagine the mild rain in the morning and the ambient cold didn't help it too much in that regard. One bad thing that did happen was I dropped to one knee... right on a little rock in the ground, so my right knee hurts. Plenty of rest for that...

I think I'm going to keep up my break from bush wookiee-ing and keep running this weight loss loadout as I move forward for now. Weight loss is half of it, but also just working on improving an aspect of the game that I don't typically do much and haven't done much in a long time; I feel like I have sniping down, so I'll work on what I'm weaker at for now. The goal is to not only do that, but also try and carry 3 guns total (rifle, sniper and a pistol) as I'm a big lad at 6'5" with a heavy Dutch build so I think it'll be doable. It may not be and may just be more hassle than it's worth with slings everywhere, but it's a nice goal to strive for.

Roll on next game day!

Not been playing today but had 3 guns in bits for cleaning, lubing and mild upgrading

does that count?

also copious amounts of alcohol and snacks as the wife is away ?

not really  =P

but in fairness i have been doing the same thing today as  i wasnt feeling 100% this week and decided to skip airsoft this weekend, but i will be back out next weekend.

I had a really good, if slightly muddy, day at Airsoft Plantation.  Around 170-180 players turned up and the day was played in a good sporting spirit, with well designed games and excellent marshalling.

Both AEGs and the CO2 1911 performed flawlessly.  I got a lot of kills, including two guys who charged around a corner at me; I shot the first one and then the second one, who was already pointing his rifle at me.  He looked at it and looked at me; I was expecting him to claim that I had not taken a hit, but he just said "the safety is still on" and walked away to regen.

Another player apologised to me after he had shot me in the face from fairly close range; as it was all that he could see of me, I did not see it as a problem, but it was indicative of the sprit in which players seemed to approach the day.

Great day at Battle stations new and old site. Just a shame my kwa erg decided it doesnt want to work properly and then the joys of losing a qd supressor that was never to be found again. hmmmm

I should've brought some ice skates with me today. The mud at Worthing wasn't as deep as it can get but everything was slippery as hell. I tried my luck at climbing up onto one of the ridgelines but just ended up sliding back down again on my backside ? Still, despite the rain some great fights, good pushes and defence by boths teams, always a pleasure to see. One complaint is a game of running barrels to a central objective was going a lot quicker that the marshalls thought it would, so a lot of rules started changing on the fly. It was a bit confusing to say the least. But we got to some classic base domination in the afternoon, lots of fun, lots of kills pretending to be a hedge ?

It was a good day for me too, gun is back to 60m range and performing quite well even after a last minute gear change. My ghillie is doing its usual good things, though it will need some updating as we get into spring. I took out my new pistol, WE's version of the p226. Very happy with it, effective at 30m and reaches out to 45 totally stock. My friends had less good days, sniper mag issues, and my mates g&g sr15 falling apart for a third time.

Good day at Special Ops.  80 people there meant the games inevitably ended up with some stalemates due to the weight of suppressing fire, but the marshals did a good job of encouraging, and if that didn't work then even moving some extra cover in place, or simply declaring an objective taken.
I noticed the teenagers weren't very keen on trekking back to respawns, they'd just walk 20m from the front line and then go back again, whereas this old man with his arthritic knees and chocolate ankles was toiling backwards and forwards.  Oh well.
Had a couple of hero moments when pushing forward, had two rifles (two! count 'em! two!) working and used, and when the battery gave out in the TM Aug HC, right when I was pushed up on the objective area, I even pulled the pistol out.

I managed to try a couple of HPA guns.  So yeah, an Evo Scorpion with the necessary bits at several hundred quid might be a bit of a big bill to swallow, but it really was nice to shoot.  The guys were impressed with how good the DE M906 was, especially for the price.  The TM got some compliments too (mostly no doubt for Not Being Another M4, I'm sure :))

I think our team won every single round through the day.

Manic day at strikeforce Gloucester yesterday, everyone seemed to have had their weetabix and the quality of play was fantastic, my friends and I found the honesty levels to be very high. The MWS always brings a grin to my face (not great when I don't wear face protection lol) and I found I was going through all 6 of my mags most games as well as all 5 of my glock mags.

The last game I played was Tug of War which was basically a stalemate for the entire game with the middle of the play zone being an absolute meat grinder. Must have over 100 welts on my body (8 on my face alone).

Amazing day.

Had a great day yesterday trying out Ambush Airsoft in Cobham for the first time.

Had seen a few old reviews that had me in two minds but seems the new management have found their feet.

Arrival and check in were quick and chrono checks carried out for all.

Despite the heavy rain from around lunchtime there were plenty of games played with scenarios varying from attack/defend, domination, capture the flags and a very enjoyable entrenched snipers vs everybody else that rolled through multiple play areas.

Good mix of woodland setting with various well built structures and hard cover (some with multiple levels) dotted around giving plenty of options.

Respawns we’re within easy reach and reload visits to the safe zone were frequent but short (enough time to refill mags and have a quick smoke/coffee) keeping play time to a maximum.

Marshals we’re on point and kept everything flowing and there was a good mix of regulars, rentals and randoms like me - it was nice to see the regulars helping out and encouraging the rentals to push and get stuck in.

Decent shop selection and lunch provided was hot and filling.

All in all had a great day and will definitely be going back again.

I did get clocked with a burst to the thumb that is definitely going to leave a mark! ?

Ouch,  Were you red or Blue? I am the fat bloke in DPM with the Warq on. Shame about the mud!
Were you one of the Zombie volunteers, we've not laughed so much in a long time with 30 folks spraying their cover on full auto so they just couldn't move

Forgot to post about the actual game :D

So this Sunday we were 8 on the field, cold, but clear morning.

decided to run the kit I'm gonna be using on mid May's 21h event and I'm glad I did because now half the shit is gonna stay home :D

I've reduced the number of mags from 6 to 3 (2+1), won't bring the mayflower rig but the TMR, will ditch the belt and will store the mk23 in my backpack until the night phase, where it will become my primary.

I'm also bringing a larger pack, 9 litres might not be enough for water, clothes (waterproof top + fleece) and mk23+mags+gas.

as far as the actual game, I had a big oof moment where I was defending and an attacker walked right past me without seeing me, I fired 4 shots with the mk23 and the first two hit the only fucking piece of shit sapling between us, the third zipped past his head and when the 4th was flying, he had already seen me so we traded kills -.-

other than that it was a fun day, I enjoy low numbers way more than 20+ players days, I get way more space to move around and make plays and the low numbers (either 10 or 13) are what we have in tournaments, so it's good training in addition to much quicker games and the chance to teach new kids a thing or two..

this Sunday, for example, it was radio comms, when to use it, how to use it and how to set it up in a way where you can't accidentally operate the PTT so everyone can hear how much of a short breathed fuck you are :D

Because literally, last time one guy had his rifle sling pushing on his PTT and all we heard was boars having an orgy.

Next Sunday it'll be shooting back when being shot at, cuz I see way too many people duck in cover instead of fighting back lol

I see this way too much. Come around a corner and someone has the angle on you and you pull up your gun thinking they will beat you to it, and they duck. Well guess what now you have the advantage as you keep your sights on their position and take them out the instant the pop back up. Tactics 101 know when you have the advantage and keep it.

Yeah for us is more like:

We are 4 people and there is one defender, once he fires he might hit the first but the other 3 need to literally bukkake him in plastic.

Defense knows where we are, so being sneaky doesn't work anymore and we need to get the overmatch..

Unfortunately people still think BBs are evil and must be avoided at all costs :P
