The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Superb day at Tazball Airsoft near Inverness, met some great folk again and great gameplay all round.

Frigging freezing cold but interesting dynamic playing in the snow.

Drove 3hrs to the Bunker in Aberystwyth in the dark, drove back 3hrs in the dark....  It was last day ever @ The Bunker.  Quite a basic site with basic stuff around the field, but a WW2 bunker that made for some interesting attacking/defending.   Certainly one the most interesting sites as one side of the site is level (Bunker) and the other side has some steep ass hills and made assaulting upwards not only a shooting challenge but figuring out ways to fight uphill even more of a ball ache to figure out.  :)   It was Knackering and some questionable hit taking...but was it fun?  Well yes...  More positives than negatives and quite enjoyed my little adventure into Wales...

I will never ever bitch about the tiny teeny hill @ my home site ever again...lol

Yesterday two kids got lost in the woods (very thick vegetation, especially in that area with trees so low you have to actually crawl underneath and you have no reference points to look at and track, it was also their first time in that particular part of the field).

Now, we know the field like the back of our hands and finding them was easy, but why the fuck did you decide to NOT backtrack and instead you picked a completely random direction?

Also, when people shout your name, why the fuck wouldn't you answer back?

When confronted, one of them kept bitching because "he knew where they were" which was obviously false, if they knew where they were, they wouldn't have had to be rescued lol.

It was okay today.

Played with midcaps because my lonex are all in pieces for maintenance and repairs (got very little spare time these days and everything takes thrice as long), I genuinely thought I would be outgunned but nope, it was completely fine, I guess I should use them more (on the ak, for example, if I can fix the mosfet overheating issue).

Having a proper Odin does help massively though!

Next time, of it's not raining, I'll crack out the ak and smersh, haven't touched it since this summer.

Awsome day, got the full squad out. Ghillie v2.0 worked wonders, I had people staring at me from ~5m away and not seeing me. I only got seen because I thought they were shooting me, not shooting over me at my team, so I moved ? Only downsides are it being hard to get a good pic in some veg from the site's photog ? Lost some morning games due to a lack of aggression, won some afternoon games as our team seemed to warm up. There were some fantastic pushes from both sides, some great flanking attempts by the enemy team countered by our team really well.

The tree life continues ?

I am just looking forward to getting out next weekend for the first time since tearing an Achilles' tendon.  Today's "airsoft day" involved replacing yet another failed Gate PicoSSR.

I had a great day, contrary to my rather disappointing skirmish last time. Leaves have fallen, so sight lines are massively open and the VSR is performing damn well, even while having to contend with gusts of wind. Had to aim to the side to compensate for it, but was getting some stellar shots with it, so I'm happy. Also, first outing with my newly constructed ghillie and it's just invisibility; very happy with how it turned out though I do still want a Sprinter Custom Ghillie one. I had a guy run right past me while I was just sitting on my backside with my MP7 in my lap, then a team mate crawled pretty much next to me and only realised I was there when I warned him the enemy were close. This one was just put together because I had a bunch of Novritsch camo stuff lying about and a spare webtex concealment vest. Also learned from my mistake last skirmish and brought the MP7 instead of any of my gas pistols (as well as my thermals!) because it was coooooooold today. I have, to my shame, started using full auto when (relatively) close though, because I've found people just don't call it on semi-auto because it's a 0.6J aep firing .25s and they're just not feeling it. They typically feel a burst of 5 or 6 though.

Roll on next game day. Christmas game, so silliness abound!

Another fun day at Special Ops.  Might be the last of the year for me though which makes me sad....

Some really enjoyable flanking moves to pop a few people from behind... and a couple of "oh shit" moments in point-blank encounters :D

The photographers never seem to get me running around.    Probably because I can't do much with these arthritic knees and spaghettified ankles :D   Slow and sneaky my preferred method of attack
DE M906C performing great through the day, so the AK still didn't get to strut its stuff.

Edit:  Ooh, found an 'action' shot, here's me doing a semi-panicked tactical reload out of my fast mag pouches

I joined the church of GBBR after swapping my MP7 for a teammate's GHK AKS74U for a single round. I don't think I've ever had that much fun using a GBBR in my several years of airsoft despite being killed over and over again by my own teammates. I was one of those strict AEG guys that fell for the "more reliable and less advantage" myth.

100% sold on buying a GBBR for my next rig. Way too much fun.?

Welcome to the dark side ? GBBRs are just so much fun, no recoil aeg can come close , and they demand a style of play that is much more imersive  and ultimatly much more satisfying than 'spray and pray'.

Too much fun indeed.? Definitely found myself being far more conservative and way more illusive than usual and that's saying something. Since I'm always moving as low profile as possible. Hell, It's almost impossible for anyone to find a photograph of me in a upright position whilst playing airsoft lol.

All that's left now is to figure what GBBR will be my first.?

Loads will tell you to get a TM MWS, but I will say that my WE based L119 and WE L85 are both excellent performers , the 119 has been used at every game day I've played this year running on red gas and even last time out the gun held up to the cold better than I did. WE G36 is a good platform I just dont seem to take mine out very often.

I'm with you there. I picked up a TM AKM (although I only have 1 mag because they're out of stock everywhere!) and since firing it on the range I've also decided to just stop using AEGs altogether. HPA and non-blowback gas guns are better for stealth, while GBBs (both pistols and rifles) are just way more fun than their electrical counterparts. I can't go back to AEGs after firing my AKM on the range!

I don't think I can either. I'm kinda pissed off I bought two highend £400 AEG's that do practically the same thing. I bought my MP7 purely because the weight of the Ronin TK45 started to get uncomfortable for long periods when in reality it's more than manageable. God, that money could have gone to a nice GBBR.

Now for the past 2 days I've been sat here looking at my PayPal credit £1000 limit about to do something dumb.....Somebody needs to take me away from this computer before I do something.

The TM MWS was something I looked at but I'm kinda bored to death of AR/M4 types. I'm really sold on the GHK AKS-74U I used.

Or if I can get one that comes with the Hephaestus AK kit installed .

Tbh I found last night's game at Driverwood to be a mixed bag. While the safezone and facilities were excellent (proper flushing toilets, lights and power sockets), and the game area was well set up with plenty of variety in the way of cover and buildings. The lighting and smoke machines were a nice touch too

On the downside I found the hit taking to be questionable and the answer to my question about pyro rules was basically don't bother, nobody takes any notice them. Well if that's the case then surely it's down to the staff to deal with it, rather than just moan about it and it gave me the impression they didn’t really care. The last thing I didn't like was the sound system playing what sounded like the soundtrack to a cheap fairground ghost train. Whilst this might be good for zombie or halloween events I found it to more of an irritation.

Overall I don't think I'll be going back soon

What a way to round out the year. I donned the tinsel ghillie once again and went around sniping people with the HPA VSR. Had some really heart-pounding adrenaline fuelled moments of people walking right past me and me lying completely still and hoping they don't spot the shiny tinsel, which they surprisingly didn't! I was really enjoying my invisibility and got some really nice shots as the VSR was firing amazingly well and there was very little wind. Games were pretty close too, with one team winning a narrow victory in the morning, then our team came back strong in the afternoon.

Took my newly repaired mk23 out too, since the return spring pinged out at AI500 when it fell out of the holster and it performed like a dream with a new one in. So happy to use it while I heard GBBs really struggling with the temperature, and it's a lot more silent than the mp7 aep (though the mp7 does have a fun switch!).

Downside is the lended out my m21 to a friend and it jammed, so I'm going to need to sort that. Wasn't his fault, it's a thing that happens sometimes and I think I'm going to need to tape some card just under the back of the hop unit, as there's a little gap that sometimes BBs roll backwards into in between the nozzle returning to position if you're firing uphill, jamming the nozzle and therefore jamming the HPA engine open so it vents loads of air. I'll do that at some point over the next two weeks...

What a great end to the year! The long format morning and afternoon games were very fun. I enjoy those pure objective game modes a lot when you have the whole site and you get little squads forming and setting out to do something towards the objective. Maybe it's not direct, but it might be disrupting the spawn or just holding a certain area. I especially enjoyed the absolute torrent of red smoke (incendiary) in one of the last games for a 4 minute base capture ?

which they surprisingly didn't!
I had people shocked, as if I'd suddenly appeared, whilst wearing a big red cape ?

Yeah, same. It lets me go off and be annoying, picking people off at range and then repositioning to leave them questioning if I'm still there or not. Having the whole site in play really opens up my style of gameplay.

I mean... with how you were dressed up today, I'd be shocked if you appeared next to me too ?

Today was my first ever game of airsoft, it is safe to say I’m hooked.

already looking to book again between Christmas and new year at the same site (Bristol Airsoft). It’s a shame the site is closing soon tho but hopefully be able to get my UKARA before it does.

Need to make sure I take gloves with me next time as my left hand (my lead hand) got shot so many times.

Also eventually I would like a torch for the dark sections and a tracer unit but no rush as want to get used to my gun before buying attachments.
